In addition, this essay will explain more about this concept with different texts such as, “Eveline” By James Joyce, “Tosca” by Isabel Allende, and “The Myth of Sisyphus” by Albert Camus. These essays will show us different points of view of what freedom is and which factors limit or promote freedom. Some of the factors that limit freedom are society, ignorance, and immaturity. Society is essential in people’s life because it has their culture, memories of childhood but sometime it makes a lot pressure on the people with many rules and traditions. Moreover, when people are ignorant tend make a lot of mistakes because they don't have the experience to decide what is good or what is bad. They aren't available to taking risk and making charge in their lives. Sometimes ignorance is relative with immaturity because people don't have the courage to confront their mistakes and consequences of their actions. All these things limit the people's freedom. However, many factors also promote freedom. It is when people have the ability to confront problem, education to express themselves, and the maturity to recognize their defect, ignorance. It gives them the power to search for their freedom and make better decision in life. Sometimes people are afraid to make changes in their lives because of the fear of what others may think. It most of the time happens with many people in our own society. In fact, couples of years before, women couldn’t attend school. Their roll only were stay in home, take care for their children and husbands, and make housework. Nowadays, women have the same opportunities that the men have. However, some places still limit their improvement.
