Freedom In America During The 1920's

During the 1920s America established an extravagant way of living that involved buying and spending to show wealth. We, as Americans, have taken this upon our everyday lives. So much of our lives in America revolve around a social ladder that we fight to climb to the highest rung. Every man, woman, and child for themselves. Our rude manor has been brought out of this nation's mask. Often we, as Americans, betray our own life long friends and family to reach this idea of the ´top´. Music, movies, television, cell phones, clothing brands, and so much more have evolved with our way of living. We have forgotten about the people who physically fought and lost their lives to support our country and create the freedoms we still celebrate. How would
our first political leader feel if they could see the disrespect we have brought from this nation, from sea to polluted sea. The deeper and deeper we bury ourselves in this ideal American dream the deeper level of disaster we reach. We live in a nation that votes for a president not because they trust him/her and believe that he/she will be good for this country to help raise it from this despair we are swimming in, but because one of the candidates is less corrupt than the next. How can we sit on our sofas with a drink in one hand a remote in the other watching blankly as our country becomes the laughing stock of the world? As a whole American society, we have achieved this ideal American dream. We have rudely fought to the top rung of the ladder by downgrading those around us. We have lied and cheated in every game we play. So yes, we did it! We have achieved the American dream but along with it, we have created the greatest American Disappointment.
