While viewing the video I was overcome with a lot of emotions. My first emotion was sadness. I experienced a feeling of extreme sadness, it is truly a shame that a country that was established under God had so much hate. Did the Americans who were white during that time forget that we are supposed to love one another? No commandment in any religious text promotes segregation of people. Degrading of people based on skin color is sickening. The constitution even said all men are created equal. Mankind comes in different sized shapes and colors just like dogs are cats but they do not separate themselves due to one cat being orange or one dog being small. Are cats and dogs more civilized than mankind? This is so confusing.

I think about if African Americans had not stood up for civil rights, anyone who was not European would have faced the same ill treatment African American citizens faced. Hangings, segregation, ill treatment, and more injustices would have been everyday life for anyone migrating who was non-white. No one from other countries that are non-white would have migrated here. They would have been 2nd class citizens. Although, there was harsh treatment to the Freedom Riders it was all for the greater good. The Freedom Riders were thinking about the progression of the country and how much better we are when we stand together. They made sure that the government was aware of the crimes committed to fellow man and women of this country will not be tolerated based on hate of color, religion, or sex.
