Demonstration Speech Outline
“HOW TO FRENCH BRAID”
General Purpose: To demonstrate
Specific Purpose: To demonstrate to the audience how to french braid hair.
Central Idea: It is useful to know how to french braid because it stretches its way beyond its initial heritage.
I. Introduction
A. Do you see things that you wish you could do, but look too complicated? Maybe if you tried it, it wouldn’t be so hard as it looks? Perhaps you saw a hair style that you wish you could try to do with your hair. Whether it is straight hair, curled hair, a twist, or some kind of braid you can always try. That’s why I have mastered the french braid.
B. I have known how to french braid for several years now. It helps me with any hair style I want to do. Whether it’s for a lazy day or a special occasion.
C. Today I will show you the steps of how to create a french braid.

Transition: Let’s get started by reviewing what material we will need.

II. Body
A. The first step is to get the materials together.
1. There are only a few items you will need to succeed the french braid.
a. Clean Medium-Long Hair
b. Hair Brush
c. Hair Tie
2. Other supplies can be used, these are optional.
a. Hair spray
b. Elastics
c. Bobby pins

Transition: Now that we have the materials we can start the first step of french braiding.

B. The second step in the process is to prepare the hair.
1. Brush through the hair you are going to start braiding.
a. No tangles
b. No knots
c. Smooth/Soft
2. Use the right kind of brush when preparing the hair.
a. Use a brush
b. Do not use combs

Transition: Now that we have prepared the hair, we can start the french braid!

C. The third step is to split a section of hair.
1. Grab a section of hair.
a. About 4 finger widths wide
b. At the crown of the head
c. Brush out the section of the hair
2. Separate the section of hair into three parts.
a. Equal amounts for each part.
b. Refer to them as sections A, B, and C.
c. Left is A, Middle
