French Essay of Pollution in Oceans
Devoir 2
Dawn Brookes
Ceci

During the World War II, the fossil fuels played an important role in the battle because all the participants in the war needed combustible; therefore, countries as Venezuela and Norway started to export petroleum to the countries that were in the dispute. Subsequently, all the countries’ economy started to revolve around petroleum, and some of them began to build a monopoly in oil becoming in world power nations. But not all the countries were benefited from that, for example, in the actually Venezuela is suffering one of the biggest economic recessions due to the dependency of petroleum in its economy. According to Arturo Uslar Pietri in his article “Sowing the Oil,” the only profitable use of the petroleum’s incomes is investing them in other technologies, which could be alternative fuels, and other economic sector as tourism and agriculture. Also, Arturo Uslar Pietri claimed that basing the world economy in oil would create a monopoly and enrichments of only a few countries meanwhile others will fall in depression and impoverishment. The development of alternative fuels will create a new and equal market for the world that will increase each one’s economy without depend in one non-renewable source, as the petroleum, and it will create sufficient jobs for those who are working on the petroleum industry and those who are…

    Courbet the Wave

The aggression of the ocean fascinated Courbet; ‘The sea! The sea!... in her fury which growls, she reminds me of the caged monster who can devour me’. This feeling resonates in The Wave as the lack of foreground presents nature as an immediate threat. Drenched in the violent tide, the shore is no safe harbour, indicated by the burnt orange sand in the bottom left of the canvas. The tone of the painting is much like ‘bated breath’, as the imposing wall of water appears to standstill just before the point of breaking. Dark, billowing clouds echo the compositional structure of the wave. Thus the painting exemplifies the coherence of nature through the interdependence of sea and sky and together they make a formidable presence. Remarkable for its lack of human incident, Courbet seems unwilling to define man’s relationship to nature. It is as though his stay at Etretat revealed to him an unequivocal life force that could be observed in the natural world alone. His choice of colour and technique invests ‘the fluid medium of water with weight and solidity’. A deep blue-green offset by a foamy white recreates the ocean’s surging, spitting depth, while his gestural use of a loaded brush produces a tactile surface. Not all critics approved of Courbet’s “unrefined” technique; Maxime du Camp…

The Beach at the Sainte-Adresse is a very serene painting. When the viewer squints the eyes to examine the painting from a distance, the view of this coastal site comes into the sight. This work comprises the basic artistic compositional style with three main sectors: foreground, middle ground and the background. The foreground comes forward as our eye gets drawn to the horizon at a perpendicular line of an acute angle that it makes with the sky, which forms the dome-like shape over our head. The painting is not drawn to a life-sized scale; however, the space feels much larger than it seems. This grand atmosphere is created through different proportion that the artist intentionally creates with composition. The middle ground is narrow with the image of a village fading out at a distance whereas the sky is much liberal with larger area.…

The crude oil industry has become prominent since mid 19th century. Ever since the Industrial Revolution, the development of drilling methods has brought oil into a drastically larger extent of mass production. Petroleum is one of the important extracted compositions of crude oil in the U.S. Until today, it is globally used mainly as fuels in transportation. Other uses include heating homes, powering industry, and providing raw material for plastic manufacturing. The great importance of oil to the country has led to the exploitation of its resources in the past century. Not only exploiting land resources, the government is also beginning to exploit resources under the sea. Off shore drilling is the method of extracting crude oil from the seabed. It has been a controversial issue in the U.S. of whether or not off shore drilling should be expanded. In this essay, I am comparing and contrasting the reasons why some people are supportive of off shore drilling in the U.S., and why some people are in opposition to it. I will discuss three major aspects upon this issue; the three aspects are national security, economy and environment.…

Other aspects of the coastal landscape that engender discussion are those animate expressions of nature such as fossils and vegetations, birds and crustaceans, fishes and other wild life that depend on it for survival. Humans are the guardians of coastal landscapes, and they have affected them both positively and negatively. Some of the ways that they have impacted the landscape is by dredging, pollution, constructing buildings, land reclamation, creating beaches, planting exotic vegetations and trees, erecting sea walls, and by destroying natural habitats of wild life. Therefore, understanding what a coastal landscape is and how humans have influenced it is the subject of this paper.…

Water pollution happen due to the BP oil spill and due to all the vast amount of oil and gases that entered the ocean. The enormous effects it has on the marine life and it is all primary pollutant. The devastation does not stop at this point. It prolongs the curse to the wildlife and environment as a whole. It was found out by the LSU entomologist that the liquid, brownish-black oil still leaks out of the planet every day, which can be disturbing the food chain that the sea life thrives upon. While this may be for moment in time hurting, the horrific sight of natural gas piercing approximately a mile below the ocean surface we forever devastate the ocean life. All of this molded a combination which…
