Friday Day Monologue
Around 8:30 PM on a regular Friday night, three friends Jamie, Rachel, and Freddy all had to stay back after school to finish their group assignment. On a Friday night, all the janitors and teachers wanted to rush home. Without even noticing, all of them stayed way past the time they were suppose to be there.
Jamie
Hey Rachel, have you decided to accept the lord and saviour Jesus Christ into your heart yet?

Rachel
Jamie, how many times have I told you, I don’t want anything to do with your religion, I love you as a friend but please stop trying to convert me to your ways.

Jamie
Alright, alright. It doesn’t hurt to try, but I’ll accept you for whoever you are or whatever you believe in.

Rachel You always say that, and then the very next day you try and convert me to your religious ways again. But if you didn’t you wouldn’t be the same person I appreciate a lot.

Jamie

Me trying to convert you is what makes our friendship unique. But seriously one day I’ll succeed and you’ll finally believe in God.

Rachel We always have this same conversation, don’t you think it’s kind of hopeless to try and make me believe in God?

Jamie I never think anyone is hopeless, but if you really don’t want to believe in God, I don’t want to force you. I’m just happy at the fact that we are friends and you accept me for my faith.

Rachel Finally something different, that’s the first time I have heard you try and not preach to me about your all mighty God.

Freddy Hey, now that you two are finished arguing. Maybe we can try and figure a way out of here. As much as I love school, I’d rather be home and not be stuck here, I have all year to be in this damn High school.

Rachel Aren’t you into the whole dark, creepy, and scary thing? You fit right in here.

Freddy Very funny. I’m a Satanist, not a goth. I don’t have to like everything that’s

Like anything in life, faith starts out for most as a journey. Often growth in faith is so gradual it is hardly noticeable. There’s no thundering voice of God striking down the disbelievers, but rather small miracles like getting an A on a test with little preparation. It is only self reflection faith grows because of struggles in life. In A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving, John Wheelwright’s faith and his belief in miracles juxtaposes Owen Meany’s innate beliefs. John Irving follows John Wheelwright’s growth in faith and miracles and highlights Owen’s steady support.…

But he then asked: “Have you become like me?” (Who is an atheist) and I just said yes without giving any details that I’m not an atheist but an agnostic since I still believe in God. What I’m going through in my mind is very contradictory because on one hand, I want to explore other religions and digging to see if there is ‘truth’ in them and on the other, I’m saying that I am agnostic who does not follow any religion but believe in God. I have shared about this to a few of my friends who I consider close- Muslim, Christian and non-religious. Not surprisingly, one of my Christian friend started sending me long texts on proving why Christianity is the truth and that I shouldn’t leave. I was a bit annoyed but it was definitely an expected response. I’m sure that when I confess to my mom, there will be tensions between us and she would say to me: “I’ll pray for you” or I will hear her praying loudly in the drawing room to get the devil out of my system. I have become a ‘rebel’ since I’m trying new things and disowning the things I used to do as a Christian. Secondly, picking a major was a big concern for many months. Usually Indian parents decide which career path their children should take but I am privileged to have parents who have let me choose what I want to do in life. Although my mother insists on me being a lawyer or a…

We have developed a relationship to the point where I call her my ‘momma’. She has been like family to me going so far as to care for my wife during one of the most difficult times in our married life, the loss of twins prematurely. In the holding area before surgery, Kiran approached us after we had just finished our prayer for the safe keeping of my wife and the hands of the surgeon and staff that would accompany her in the room. She leaned in to my wife and told her, “Do not worry God is here with you.” This singular statement has opened a whole new door to the relationship that I have with Kiran. She knew that I was in Seminary training to fulfill the call that God has placed on my life. Until recently, I had never inquired about her religion other than asking questions as to what her…

Salvation is much more than just words uttered. True faith in Jesus, and Him alone, and repentance is what is taught in the New Testament. Emphasis on repentance is forefront of the message of John the Baptist, Peter, and Jesus. Fay’s question number 5 puts importance on John 1:12, “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, the gave the right to become children of God.” Fay writes, “I cannot emphasize how important prayer is at this moment.” More could be added to the 4th question, “Are you willing to surrender your life to Jesus Christ.” This would be the appropriate area to add more details concerning repentance in this student’s…

12 years ago I was diagnosed with Meningitis, they caught it just in time. I hadn’t ever seen my mom that scared, I still haven’t. At the time my mom was going to be turning 20, we were still living with my grandparents and my 17 year old uncle. I was playing upstairs with my uncle when I suddenly passed out, all the color drained from my face, he picked me up and ran downstairs. I was driven to the emergency room. 30 minutes away. They told us what I had and that if we had waited even two more hours they don’t know if they could’ve saved me. I remember my mom staying in the hospital with me, I would tell her I would be okay. I always tried to stay positive. The nurses brought me this huge video game console, I thought I was the luckiest kid…
