Since opening in a suburb of a major metropolitan area two years ago, Pablo’s Pepper Pizza has consistently had a huge line of customers waiting for a table. Pablo, the owner, attributes this to his strong belief that customers are entitled to high quality food at inexpensive prices. His brand promise is to consistently create a fun, family-oriented environment centered around great food that won’t break the budget. This idea is demonstrated at many different touchpoints with customers. Parents can enjoy the $5.00 all-you-can-eat pizza and salad buffet while watching the game on the television screen. Kids receive a complimentary activity book along with a packet of crayons and unlimited trips to the dessert bar stocked with fruit, pizza, and cookies. From time to time, Pablo even personally invites the children to watch the pizzas being made through a glass window. The employees seem to enjoy this as much as the children do, especially when the children smile as the pizza dough is tossed high into the air. It’s a good thing, too – a friendly attitude is stressed at weekly staff meetings. During this time, Pablo also reminds the cooks to keep a fresh supply of a variety of pizzas on the buffet line, and he instructs the bussers to quickly clear dirty plates from the tables. All this must be working because the place is still packer!…

The contest has changed since the mid-1980s'. Customers are more demanding about the hospitality experience. They earn more money and they can buy comparable ice creams to Baskin-Robbins in grocery stores now. While BR’s competitors are pushing this mix-in experience - a higher price theater experience.…

This report is written by Knowles. This report is written for project review team of Laurentian Bakeries Inc. This report projects a new expansion strategy for the Winnipeg plant to meet the demand of the new deal.
Founded in 1984 Laurentian Bakeries Inc. operates in the industry of manufacturing a vast variety of frozen baked products within their three operating plants in Montreal, Winnipeg and Toronto. The operating plants produce items such as frozen pizza in Winnipeg, Manitoba, pies in Montreal, Quebec and Cakes in Toronto, Ontario - with each representing 30%, 30% and 40% of the total revenue stream respectively. The buyers for this company include large institutional clients such domino’s pizza, etc. which have a significantly higher level of power whereas the seller of the products consists of several food producers which have a relatively low level of power. With the cost of setting up a plant of this scale being high, substitute products will also remain high in the market causing the overall profit margin to be low. With the company’s ongoing effort for continuous improvement Danielle Knowles (VP of operations) proposed to expand one of the operating plants in Winnipeg - which was based on the opportunity if the company expanded into the U.S. market.…
