IB Reflection journal

One of the two things that IB taught me was teamwork. In a team we could generate more ideas hence we will have more ideas to choose from, example, our team at had many ideas like preventing the loss of ez-link card but in the end we chose portable solar charger. Also we would have different perspective/opinions on an idea or product thus we can tackle the problem and come up with multiple solutions, example, why did we choose portable solar charger it’s to save electricity and to charge their phone more conveniently. Communication in a team is important as we assign a job to each of us, in this way we could complete our work faster and be fair to one another instead of someone doing most of the work and another guy doing the least work.
Creativity is another thing that IB taught me. Example we must come up with a concept that could convince customers why they should buy our product which is the portable solar charger instead of a normal portable charger, although the solar charger might be a little a bit more expensive than a normal charger but it can save electricity, we also add extra features like a built-in thumb drive, extended warranty, free casing to promote our product. We also made our solar panel foldable so that it can be easier to carry in a small bag hence customer will be more convinced to buy our product with so many extra features even though it a little more expensive than the normal charger.
IB also has taught me a few transferable skill that I could apply it in my life/work in the future like problem solving, time management and responsibility. Time management, it is very important because I have to manage my study time and play time but when exam is near I will have to increase my study time so that I could achieve the best possible result. Also I have to plan my time to sleep early so that I could be school early and not late as I could have miss out an important notes for exam.

Team collaboration adds value to achieving success for the entire group because each member is working together towards a common goal. Without having a "common goal", the team cannot be successful. "Once general goals are in place" the team members can develop an educational strategy for assigned projects. Along with collaborating with one another, team members must trust each other to work together efficiently. Team members come from all sorts of backgrounds and have many different life experiences, which can create different perspectives when collaborating on educational projects. Team diversity is the beauty of learning teams; by generating various style of learning; ways of communicating, ideas and learned information over the years. A team member can be stronger in areas that his or her team members is not, and can help other team members strengthen their…

As part of my Business Innovation Development Project Unit, I had the opportunity to put myself into group with my friends or people I believed I could work well with. In the first stages of our group we all tried to get to know each other more through analysing personality and learning types’ test that we previously undertook. I realise we were going through the normal stages of the team formation in particular forming and norming (Tuckman, 1965). In my assignment group we had all Belbin team roles which helped us perform well throughout our project and also helped us to identify other team members’ behavioural strengths and weaknesses. During the initial stages of the group getting together I believed it was important that we all had a clear objective and somewhat of a pathway of what we wanted to achieve and that everyone shared duties within the group. My group members had roles such as researching the market to see if there is a demand for Youni which was our product for university students, they also dealt with the financial side of our product and making analysis between our product and our competitor’s product.…

In my opinion, the most important factor that aids a team to work effectively is to have an established goal that each member works toward. When each individual is aware of the direction of team, they can consistently contribute their ideas and insights to achieve that goal. Therefore, my primary objective in this course is to actively seek the best ways to achieve the goal at hand. Once a certain goal has been established, I need to remind myself and my team members of that same goal in an on-going basis; so that the team won’t diverge from the direction it must be headed. By continually mentioning the goal that was agreed-upon, it keeps the team moving together which is vital to success. Each member must know how far the team has developed their steps to achieving the goal; therefore it would be a real disadvantage when one member is behind. Also, the most fundamental attribute that must go with teamwork collaboration is team cohesiveness and a high level of commitment. Without working together and committing to one another, a team will most likely fail. Each member must trust one another and agree that each individual will give them the same level of dedication as one another. My goal is to give my team members all that I can offer and hopefully, learn as much as I can from them to enhance the results. In order to reach this goal, I have to actively listen to my team members and see what they have to offer. Teamwork is about giving what you have and learning what you…

Persuasive communication is at the heart of the selling process, and the sales presentation/demonstration is the critical center stage or “showtime” for salespeople. After asking the customer qualifying questions to uncover specific needs, the salesperson presents the products and services that will best satisfy those needs; highlights their features, advantages, and benefits; and stimulates desire for the offerings with a skillful demonstration. Prospects are primarily interested in the benefits being offered them. Product features and advantages are important only if they can be tied directly to a specific benefit the prospect is seeking. For instance, pointing out a flat-screen monitor feature when demonstrating a new desktop computer does not mean much to a prospect unless the salesperson explains the related benefits of taking up less desk space, reducing eye strain, and increasing employee productivity. Success in this stage requires development of carefully tailored and practiced strategies, including a convincing product demonstration. It’s been said that a picture is worth a thousand words, and a demonstration is worth a thousand pictures. One successful sales representative always carried a hammer and a plate of his company’s unbreakable glass with him to demonstrate its strength. One day, instead of hitting the glass with the hammer himself, he let the prospect do it. From then on, his sales soared as he continued letting customers swing the hammer. Salespeople should always try to get their prospects involved in demonstrating the product or “trying it out,” so they can gain confidence in using it. A dog-and-pony show, no matter how elaborate, seldom succeeds because prospects usually see its focus as selling the product instead of solving their problems.…

The advantage of team is generates more idea because there are more than one person gives idea in any discussion. When more people give their own idea, the discussion can be evaluate and develop. Then, the information and knowledge among the members in the team will increased because in discussion, the other member who knows more about the certain topic can explain it more detail to other member. Teams also can reduce the time that used by the member to seek information about the certain topic. The factor of the number of member in team can support this point because the member can be separated to seek information from all sources in same time. The example is one of the member will seek information from internet, and the other will seek information from book, news, and magazines. The other advantage of team is multi-cultural. The member can come from different race, religion, and place. The multi-cultural in team will helps members improve their communication skill. For example, in language and understand their culture.…

Shakespeare’s tragedy Hamlet is a play about the life of a young Prince of Denmark following his father’s unnatural death. The essential story is that Hamlet is mourning for the death of his father. When his father's ghost is seen haunting the castle, Hamlet seeks out the ghost and learns that his father was murdered by Hamlet's uncle, Claudius, who has now taken the throne, and the hand of the queen in marriage. The rest of the story is focused on Hamlet seeking revenge, and his setbacks and hesitations. Although many themes are present in Hamlet, a big one being the claim of Insanity, I will discuss the theme of Betrayal as it is the most preeminent theme in the play. The whole reason the story took place was due to Claudius betraying the king, also his brother, because he was power hungry. Throughout the play we also see Rosencrantz and Guildenstern betray Hamlet, the Queen betrays Hamlet and many other instances of betrayal. This theme really gives a new meaning to Hamlet’s statement that “Something’s rotten in the state of Denmark.” In order to make the paper a valid one, I will also choose to discuss the theme of loyalty alongside betrayal as if loyalty didn’t exist, then the word betrayal would have no meaning. Furthermore, this essay will compare and contrast the two types of betrayal, treason, and justified betrayal. While there are some that might argue that betrayal is always treason (in the sense that it is never justified), Hamlet’s treacherous act of killing Claudius was very justified as Claudius had killed his parents, although both at different times, and Hamlet himself. Thus by betraying Claudius, Hamlet avenged his parent’s and his own death.…

    The IBE Program Essay

The IBE program was a grate learning experience for me because I challenged myself to try something new which was putting myself out there by applying for a leadership position. Something I would usually never do. I realized that I take a lot of personal discipline to be a leader and to get people to trust and respect you. Going for a leadership position I knew how much work it would be but what I didn’t know was how well I found fit into that role. Working with my group started off pretty simple and it got complicated really fast. Every one of my team members wanted something different. It was hard to get everyone to agree on one thing. I tried to lead by example. Inspired members of my team by motivating them using examples and excitement. When applied to my peers it is sometimes easier to have them see how something works rather than tell them to do it,…

Communication is also a key to a successful team. If a person is reluctant to communicate with the rest of the team, his of her ideas will not be expressed in a completed project. I feel that in small teams like we had, it helps a backward person become involved due to the small amount of people in the group. I believe that every person’s opinion is important in running a team,…

I learnt that good group work is based on effective contributions from every member of the group, also how can conflict in the group members be good when managed appropriately and how it can be beneficial to our work as a result we produced quality decisions. Indicates that groups that have little or no contact with each other are unlikely to have either conflicting or harmonious relations. In our group we all came up with many different ideas but because of the time limit we had to ignored many thing for example, all of us came with a list of questions but at the end we chose only few of them.…
