A theory employed in the both sitcoms was intrapersonal skill. This theory deals with the communication one has within themselves. In Full House, Jessie’s secret allowed him to think about the consequences of his decision in high school. While in The Middle this theory can be seen when Frankie contemplated on her future after she had been fired and returned to school and the difficulties she would endure.
Interpersonal skill and small group communication are the other theories portrayed in the sitcoms. These theories are linked since they both refer to the act of communicating among other persons (DeVito). In Full House, interpersonal skill and small group communication is seen, the family comes together to discuss Jessie’s dilemma of being a high school dropout and offering advice on ways to overcome it. Also, the family communicated with Jessie in order to support him by expressing their concerns for him.
