Fun Things To Do In El Paso
El Paso is a city that is known as just a border city surrounded by pure desert, and boring characteristics. When I moved to El Paso I disliked the environment. I always felt bored and I never found anything fun or interesting to do. As a few years passed by, I discovered that El Paso was not so boring after all. Many inhabitants believe that the only options for a fun day out is to get together with friends and go to the mall, but what many people do not know is that there are so many fun things to do in El Paso. The city of El Paso is actually full of fun festivities that add plenty of value to El Paso which people are not frequently aware of. Such as the EPCC Fall Festival, which I recently attended with my family. Because El Paso is known as a boring city with nothing to do, people need to look for events such as the Fall Festival and attend one of the many things to do in El Paso. …show more content…
On the day of Halloween, my family and I decided to attend one of the many things to do in El Paso which was a fall festival. We had a lot of fun playing games, getting on rides, and eating delicious food. We heard of these types of events once in a while but we never knew that they were so fun. While Halloween is one of the most looked forward holidays, many people are stuck with the idea that on Halloween haunted houses, trick or treating, or parties are your only options. This leaves people believing that El Paso is too boring, even on an eventful day such as Halloween. My family and I had the freedom to choose one of the many things to do on Halloween, and the Fall Festival was a very pleasant

Mexico has assimilated the American version of Halloween into their culture, while still keeping Día de Los Muertos traditions alive. Individuals refer to it to as Día de Las Brujas or “Night of the Witches”. The fete has different layers of meaning depending on social status. Those with a higher social standing buy into the commercialization by purchasing costumes, decorating lavishly, and attending parties or parades. Brandes states in “The Day of the Dead, Halloween, and the Quest for Mexican National Identity” that “Unlike in the United States, I have rarely seen a Mexican adult wear a costume-or even a portion of a costume” (372). Children are the target audience rather than adults. The poorer classes see Día de Las Brujas as a profitable…

People from different cities, and states come down just for this event. There are six stages, dozens of rides, and a full gallery’s worth of art, cool off zones, vendors, food and beverages. We were surrounded by the smell of popcorn and cotton candy. It felt like the carnival you liked to go to as a kid. Everywhere we went there were people dressed like rainbows. Everybody was dressed in so many colors, and dressed like clowns, with different costumes. The…

In an effort to increase tourism within Santa Fe it is essential that awareness be made of the Land of Enchantment. Typically individuals seek to travel to a destination that offers relaxation, natural beauty, avenues to reduce stress, promotes equality and have a sense of originality. All qualities can be highlighted with regard to the ‘City Different.’ Tourism is advertised in most hotels, magazines, brochures and commercials. Santa Fe needs to be highlighted in each genre of advertisement as there are various activities that appeal to a multitude of generations. While the mountains, snow, hiking paths may appeal to those that enjoy the great outdoors, the opera, cultural festivals and symphonies will attract both the wealthy and those seeking to experience the luxury that Santa Fe has to offer. The unique experience that Santa Fe has to offer needs to be expressed in film and advertisements. Santa Fe offers a plethora of events that are exclusive to Santa Fe and awareness simply needs to be made.…

There are two vacation spots I frequently visited in my youth that hold special memories for me. The two places are Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. When I was very young and lived in South Florida, my family would make our yearly two-week vacation to our home in Boone, NC. Each year, this trip included a visit to Gatlinburg. I hold very special memories of these trips and still love to visit the Gatlinburg area. When I moved to North Carolina in my late teens, Myrtle Beach was the vacation and summer break spot. Even on my first visit to Myrtle Beach, although very different, it instantly reminded me of my trips to Gatlinburg as a child. Although both places are very different, in many ways they are very much the same. After going from the vacationing child, to the paying adult, I realized more and more how both places appeal to the same vacationer. I also realized that forms of entertainment were either the same or comparable. Myrtle Beach and Gatlinburg compliment and differ in many ways, and a few of those examples are stage entertainment, restaurants, and scenic vacation experiences. Both vacation spots have tons of entertainment. Sometimes the problem with family vacation spots is not what are we going to do, but how are we going to do it all In Myrtle Beach, some of my favorite entertainment activities are Big Laughs Theatre Wild 4 Hypnosis Comedy Show. Located in Surfside Beach, SC, this show is a belly-laughing good time. This show consists of audience members being hypnotized and doing funny things they do not remember. The show is great for all ages, which makes it a family favorite. Another fun entertaining place in Myrtle Beach is The Carolina Opry. The Carolina Opry is the only show named, Top Attraction in Myrtle Beach by CNN, New York Times, and USA Today, just to name a few. Shows at this location would include, Light, a laser light show to music such as The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin, Good…

One of the most memorable moments I have experienced was four years ago, when I traveled from Matamoros, Tamaulipas to San Antonio, Texas. I had the opportunity of visiting San Antonio for the first time, and more importantly, of spending time with my family who I had not seen in years prior to the trip. Spending time with my family is of great value and importance to me, so I became utterly excited to see them as soon as I had the chance.…

As I drive up to the Stone Center, I notice there were people and children already here. When I walk inside the Stone Center, there were Halloween decorates all over the place. The tables were cover with a black cloth, orange Halloween bucket filled with crayon for the children, and Halloween coloring books on the tables. Don't get me start on the food. The smell of the delicious food reminds me of my mother homecooked meal and the cupcakes look beautiful with orange frosting and colorful, Halloween sprinkler on top of it. As people started coming in, I got to worry that we didn't have enough chairs as so many people there was.…

The El Paso community can be said to be peaceful in terms of violence and drugs. In certain aspects however, our community suffers. I live on the Far East side of El Paso which is now currently growing at a huge rate. Because of this, streets as well as restaurants and stores are getting more and more populated. Along with this is the fact that since we are growing so fast, construction is taking place in order to allow a “better” flow of traffic. The result from this is catastrophic. Instead of having less cars on the road at a time, more and more people seem to be getting stuck on the road. This wouldn’t be much of a problem if our community did not spend much time working on these structures. Many people get frustrated about this for a couple…

There are three things that are certain to occur in Oklahoma during the spring. One being bad weather, the second is the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon and the third being the start of festival and fair season. Oklahoma City has festivals to celebrate the arts, music, and foods that are unique to Oklahoma. The City of Guthrie devotes a whole weekend to the Land Run of 1889 with “89er Days Celebration” and in Bartlesville you will be transported back to Indian Territory of the 1820s during the “Spring Mountain Man Encampment”. There is even a fair solely dedicated to peaches in Stratford and the City of Norman will host its annual “Medieval Fair”. This is the 41st year the city will host the fair. It has grown to be the state’s largest…
