FUTURE OF TECHNOLOGY

It is by following clues that we make discoveries, not by reasoning inductively. Now some people would accept this view but nevertheless argue that in science we cannot avoid reasoning inductively. Let us say the law that all metals expand when heated. Now in saying that this is a law of nature we are saying that it holds not only in the past but also in the future. If it is a law of nature that all metals expand when heated, then metals will expand when heated not just today but also tomorrow. But how do we know they will expand tomorrow? Tomorrow has not yet come. If we know, we can only know by reasoning inductively. The law has held in the past; therefore it will hold in the future.

What will life be like in fifty years? Will our home life be more comfortable? Will our jobs become easier? Will our health become better due to new technology? It is most likely to turn out this way. According to scientist, robots will be doing our work, taking over some of our jobs, and monitoring our health on a daily basis. Does this sound unbelievable? This might just be the kind of world our grandchildren will grow up in. It 's hard not to think about having our lives changed by the introduction of these new gadgets. As for the household aspect, computers will make our daily drudgery of housework dramatically more interesting. In the next decade robots should be cleaning our floors, mowing our lawns, and even cleaning our pools at the touch of a button. Who can imagine what advancements the next fifty years will bring! Home life is not the only thing that will be affected by the growth of technology. Jobs will go from spine busting manual labor to sitting behind a control panel. "Experts say that manual labor will be all together eliminated by the year 2050" (Reed, 3). The teaching profession will also be drastically effected. Electronic books could replace textbooks and even teachers. Technology has

Introduced by Ancient Greek philosopher, Aristotle (5th century BC), induction is a process that begins with the observation of natural phenomena and ends with the assembly of a scientific law to describe the general regularity of said phenomena. This intuitive process was accepted within the scientific community for centuries yet the basis of Aristotle’s method relies entirely on human ability to simply observe natural phenomena, see a pattern and make observational statements. If there were to exist a large number of observational statements that were repeated under several varying circumstances in which no conflicting observation was made, these observational statements could then be promoted to universal or generalised statements that refer to all events of a particular kind given certain conditions (SCIE1000 Lectures…

In Robinson’s poem “Miniver Cheevy”, the main character, Miniver Cheevy, is someone with the hope of achieving the American Dream. Possibly living in a different time period, Miniver Cheevy did not achieve this dream and has given up trying to reach for it. The American Dream represents the goal that Miniver Cheevy should aspire for‒a family, fame, and fortune. As Robinson writes, “Miniver sighed for what was not, and dreamed, and rested from his labors….Miniver scorned the gold he sought, But sore annoyed was he without it.” The character is distraught about what his life would have been, and now he drinks his life and troubling thoughts away, complaining about the things he does not have. The American Dream may not always appeal to everyone.…

Technology is a wonderful thing. With so many technological advances happening in the world every day, it’s hard to imagine life before it all came along. For many older generations though, they can remember a time when humans were doing most of what artificial intelligence is doing now. In today’s world, just trying to actually talk to a human over the phone when calling places of businesses can be an eye opening experience into a world consumed with Technology. Artificial intelligence is becoming more advanced and able to perform multiple capabilities, so one cannot deny that at some point in the future human jobs may have a smaller role in the manufacturing industry.…

Over the past few years technology has changed and had significant impact on the way we live. Almost everyone has a smart phone, regardless of age or social status. We text and email instead of talk, because it faster and convenient. We can rent movies with a click of the button and stream it to our device or home. Everything is based on internet and although prices aren’t cheap, everyone can afford something that suits their budget. I have also noticed that our textbook uses bar scan, assuming that everyone has a smart phone to retrieve it. Tablets, which are like mini computers, absolutely took over the market. Even small children know how to operate them. They are easy to use, convenient and have all the things needed in one place. You are able to connect to people from all over the world in seconds. Not only you can hear them, but you can also see them. Things that seemed to be impossible a few years back now are only one click of a button away. The cars are equipped in road maps and phone systems, so it makes our driving more safe and helpful. We probably think it can’t get any better, but we are almost guaranteed to be introduced to a new phenomenon at least once every few months.…

“I cannot imagine how I would live without it.” These are the words uttered by countless teenagers and adults about the technology they use to enhance their daily lives. Each day, inductive reasoning leads us to assumptions about how our surroundings and time will materialize based on past observations. We assume that each morning we will wake up, because we have done so each morning before. Though, however likely inductive reasoning is, it is similar to walking on a tightrope- you may assume that each step will lead to another due to the steps taken before, but eventually you may reach a snap in the rope. You may assume that you will remain walking on the tightrope, but until you walk all the way to the end, you cannot look over it all and prove that a snap did not occur.…

I can recall attending my 6th Grade's open house with my mother. I remember being nervous, leaving the comforts of my beloved elementary school, and not knowing what the future had in store for me. I don't remember meeting my teachers, or taking a tour of the new school, in fact the only other thing I do remember from that night was my nose being stuck in my mother's silver Nokia cellphone, playing what would be considered by today's standards a very low tech game. This was the highlight of my night and that cellphone game seemed to be the highlight of 2006. I never could have imagined that technology would sky rocket the way that it did. By the time I was finishing my last year in middle school the iPhone had been introduced. Within the last decade technology has completely changed how we live our lives, this sentiment carries over into the workplace as well. While having a decent type by touch speed, being able to create a spread sheet with excel, or put together a power point presentation once was more than enough, today employers are looking for much more technologically…

You wake up with a big stretch of your arms. You look outside and it is a beautiful June morning in the year 2075. It’s Sunday and you ask yourself, “What should I do today? The possibilities are limitless.” First things first, you check the weather so you know what to wear. Going on the weather website? No way, that is primitive. You turn to your nightstand that has a glass countertop and say “show me weather.” A 3D holographic display pops up and shows you what the temperature will be throughout the day. You they say, “show ideal clothing for such conditions.” Now all you have to do is put on the clothes that it tells you to, since it already has all of the clothing you own in its database. Your artificial intelligence robot makes breakfast for you. “Thank you Martha,” you say and after breakfast is done, find an activity to do. Why not walk your dog in the park? It’s a nice enough day. Now you have to decide whether you want to take your flying car, or use your self-driving car. Since the park is only about 10 minutes away you just take the robot car. In the middle of playing in the park with your dog, you get a call on the cell phone. It’s Martha your robot; she reminds you that you have a cancer therapy appointment today. Your car drives you back so you can drop off your dog and you take your flying car over the cancer specialist. There’s no painful chemo in this treatment, all you do is sit back and painlessly let the doctors do whatever it is they do. Just 80 years ago people never even thought about the type of technology that is so frequently used by us today. Imagine where technological advances could take us in just another 80 years. There are so many theories floating around right now of what the future can hold for us electronically. The possibilities are limitless because, well, look at how unbelievably fast technology developed in just the last ten years. A few of these theories caught my eye.…
