This intrigued him enough that he soon developed his own. Shortly after he had created his telescope, he had demonstrated to the Venetian merchants as a way of spotting ships. Galileo realized that this telescope could be used for more than seeing beyond the eye on Earth that he explored the sky with his telescope as well. Nearly a year later Galileo published a small booklet called The Starry Messenger. This booklet revealed his discoveries with his telescope thus far.
