Galileo was born February 15, 1564, in Pisa, Italy. He was the oldest of six children. He had three sisters and two brothers.He was one of the most significant person in the history of science. Galileo proved that the Earth revolves around the Sun, he first saw craters on the moon, he saw sunspots. Galileo also discovered that Jupiter had four moons, and two centuries before Neptune was officially known, he discovered it. The most shocking thing was he made the hydrostatic balance at age 22. He had also invented the telescope, compass, and the thermometer.
The biggest obstacle he had to overcome in his lifetime was getting people to believe him and having a low paying job while trying to take care of his family. He also had been given house arrest for getting accused of heresy.Galileo died January 8, 1642 in Santa Croce, Florence, Italy. He went completely blind at age 74. When he died he was 77. He died from a severe fever and heart palpitations (irregular heartbeat).
