Game Stands Tall

In 2014, one of the greatest football movies was released. When the Game Stands Tall, Based on a true story about De La Salle’s football team, and their streak of 151 wins in a row. When The Game Stands Tall, is an inspirational and comedy movie, it makes you smile and love the idea’s set behind the actual football team. I would recommend this movie to almost anyone, because of the love and loyalty that goes through the whole movie. De La Salle high school is an all-boys catholic school that holds the national record for the longest streak of football games won. But the idea behind the streak did not keep the team going on and winning, it was the idea of brotherhood. When the Game Stands Tall was about a football team that went from national champions and a long lived streak to no streak and disappointment. The new team ran by Bob Ladouceur, and the team captains Chris Ryan and the coach's son. The team is not founded on the loyalty and trust as it was before the seniors graduated, so the team had to start over and build the new foundation for them while they had nothing to hold on too.
Throughout the story the coach had a heart attack and couldn't coach summer practice and was finally admitted back in time for the fall season.
They started out by losing the streak and losing their way, they found it back once they went to a veteran’s rehabilitation center. The team soon got the streak back after beating the number one team in the league long beach poly. They were severely outnumbered and outnumbered in weight and height. The game was excruciating to watch and kept you on the edge of your seat. Once they won the game the streak was kept up and lived. While captain Chris Ryan was going for a record with the most touchdowns in a
season.
The turning point in the whole movie was at the end of the game and it was so sentimental; Chris Ryan had the chance to get his record for his overbearing strict dad but he did not. The last game of the season ended up as a tribute to their coach. They got in victory formation and was inches from the in zone, Chris Ryan called it and took a knee. After twice the whole stadium went quiet and all the respect went straight to coach. Yes in the end of the movie they won the game but it was so much more than that. The coach was going to take a college job coaching but after that game he stayed at De La Salle, where he continues to coach and teach.
The movie was more than just a high school team losing a streak, it was a foundation building boys to become men. No matter the hardships the boys and the team faced they had fifty two other brothers who stood right behind them. The idea is inspirational and it makes you feel good about yourself and your life after you watch it because you know that threw whatever you're facing, you can get through it.
I would recommend this movie to anyone especially families. If this movie does not touch you then I don't know what will. The hardships and loyalty and love you see through the team is incomparable. The basis of every football game as the team makes their way to the field they don't run, scream or holler; they walk hand in hand on to the field. This is the symbol of brother ship and foundation that most people dream about but never have. This is why the title is When the Game Stands Tall. Any person would be lucky to be touched by this movie, it makes you love yourself and the others surrounding you.
