Gangsta's Paradise Analysis
In Coolio’s song “Gangsta’s Paradise,” he creates a mood that allows the listener to feel angry with the things he has gone through. The speaker says, “And my homies is down so gonna rouse my anger fool.” He’s saying he is full of anger. His homies aren’t gonna be down with him if his anger gets out of hand. Coolio says, “Death ain't nothing but a heartbeat away.” He sounds like he feels hurt from what he’s been through. He feels as if his last day is a short time away. The speaker’s purpose is saying that living a “gangsta.” life isn’t all good.
