The back fire of this law was that amount of murders, countless of them were being made, and the ones to really be the problem would be gangsters, not the people, not society, nor the alcohol or drugs but it would be anything having to do with mobsters that controlled the streets from now on during that era (Kerr, 3) The reputation of many politicians, and policemen were lowered because they got involved with the illegal traffic of alcohol and drugs. They were having a huge smile for all the money they were making and how much their so called success was growing and the amount of power and respect they were receiving. Which is why you can see that our government helped out the gangsters even if its intentions were unintentionally.
