Gap year
We study in school for fourteen years and work hard to achieve success. After nine educational months we are rewarded with a three month vacation. Although school is a big part of our lives, university is way important, because in university we decide what and who we want to become and where we want to reach in life. Many students in high school don’t know much about what university or major to choose, therefore many choose to have a gap year. A gap year is a year between school and university that helps students to make vital decisions about their future. I unquestionably support this idea for it’s really helpful, useful and has many advantages.
After graduating from school, students need to take a break and relax their minds. A gap year will help them in making more accurate, precise decisions and it’s even recommended by colleges. Statistics prove that 63% of the United States students choose to take a gap year before university for they get really pressured and stressed during high school that they don’t have enough time to take the right steps forward. Taking a gap year makes them collect enough information about different universities and majors, so that they pick the right path.
Moreover, a vast percentage of students prefer having a gap year due to financial issues. Living in hard financial conditions, some students take a gap year to work and save some money for college so that they help their parents who cannot afford paying their university fees.
Opposing to students that choose to have a gap year, there are students who think that it’s a waste of time and will make them graduate a year late from university. Seeing their other friends who completed their educational path directly after school makes them think twice before having to take a gap year because they would rather normally enter college and graduate on time than have a gap year.
