Gary Manny Scholarship

I believe I deserve to be selected for this scholarship because as a hard working student, I commit myself to effectively take advantage of the opportunity this scholarship will provide me. Besides being a student who persistently works hard academically, I also constantly try to improve my own community’s quality of life by doing volunteer work. Paying for college is difficult, especially in a family where the financial status is not very high. My father is the only one working and bringing home food to the table of four. With the help of this scholarship, I will be able to attend college, achieve my goals and be the third one in my family to become a professional. The amount of money I receive from this scholarship will benefit me to pay for college. One of my goals is to obtain a college education and graduate as a business professional. Receiving this scholarship will help me achieve my career goals and motivate me to keep going forward. I also want to be a professional in my family and show my family that it is possible for me to achieve my goals with effort and sacrifice. I want this scholarship to help me get started on my career pathway.

I believe education is the key to success, and I try to connect my passion for success with my desire of helping others. I plan to have my own business of videography services for events like weddings, birthday parties, sweet 16’s, etc. Being a business owner has been in my mind ever since I was a part of the videography team at my church. I decided to be a part of this team because it was one of the many departments the church has that caught my attention. I like technology and computer systems and once I was on this team for a year, I knew this was the right department for me. I want to have my own videography business because I believe I’ve had enough experience working with cameras and the equipment we need. College will help me plan my business by learning the different steps there is to owning a business and what the advantages and disadvantages are of a business. During my high school years, I have always been dedicated to my studies. I put effort in doing homework and turning it in on time. I acknowledge that there are other worthy candidates that deserve this award as much as I do but my work ethic and past accomplishments are a good indicator of my future success.
