It is hypothesised the strongest method for curing eye defect is Gas permeable contact lenses (GP lenses). These lenses are able to maintain their shape instead of adapting to the shape of the cornea due to its firm oxygen permeable material. The lenses can provide improved vision, deposit resistance and are inexpensive as they are long lasting.
PART B
Myopia and Hyperopia are both conditions caused by refractive errors in the eye and possess an array of symptoms
PART C
Vision is able to function correctly through working principles which allow the eye to form an image. In a normal eye, rays of light firstly enter through the cornea, the light rays are then able to pass through the opening in the center of the iris called a pupil due to the refractive power of the cornea which is how light is able to enter the eye. The iris has the ability to both enlarge and shrink, which is dependent in the amount of light entering the eye. Once light passes through the iris, the rays then pass through the eyes lens, which then is able to change the width using the ciliary muscle, which stretches at the edges to focus the light rays accordingly. …show more content…
Glasses and contact lenses work very similarly and have similar effectiveness. Glasses are placed outside of the eye and are not placed onto the actual eye unlike contact lenses, which some people may find uncomfortable. By evaluating the cost of the procedure, it is apparent the most cost effective option would be contact lenses or glasses. Furthermore judging by the effectiveness, all techniques have good outcomes, however lens implantation does have a 15% chance of being ineffective as well as can result in loss of contrast and clarity. Both lens implantation and laser eye surgery, are more expensive and people will still have to pay the additional price of glasses or
