Gastritis Research Paper

Gastritis describes a group of conditions with one thing in common: inflammation of the lining of the stomach. The inflammation of gastritis is often the result of infection with the same bacterium that causes most stomach ulcers. However, other factors such as injury, regular use of certain pain relievers or drinking too much alcohol also can contribute to gastritis. Gastritis may occur suddenly (acute gastritis) or it can occur slowly over time (chronic gastritis). In some cases, gastritis can lead to ulcers and an increased risk of stomach cancer. For most people, however, gastritis isn't serious and improves quickly with treatment. Your stomach is lined with special cells that secrete mucus to form a protective barrier between stomach acid and
your stomach wall. When that protective barrier is damaged or breached in some way, the stomach lining can become inflamed, resulting in gastritis. There are a wide variety of factors and conditions that can make your stomach lining more easily damaged. These include personal habits, such as smoking and drinking alcohol; the use of certain medications; viral and bacterial infections; excessively stressful events, such as surgery or illness; and consumption of caustic substances. Treatment through Lifestyle * Get relief from stress by exercising and by practicing Yoga and meditation.
* Give up the consumption of Alcohol. * Get rid of the habit of smoking cigarettes. * Lower the intake of medications such as Aspirin, prescription steroids such as Prednisone, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as Naproxen (Aleve) or Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin). * Reduce your body’s exposure to chemicals as well as caustic or corrosive substances such as acids. According to "Life with Gastritis" (2010), "This is what you should do if you have Gastritis” (para. 5). Well it is hard for some people to stop smoking and eating their favorite foods that can cause this disease but if they want to get better they will have to do what is right to get better this disease can get a lot worse then it seems and can cause a lot of damage to your body so you have to change things to get better. If you really need help to change what is needed to change talk your family doctor and he can help you try to change things you do in your life also you can talk to you friends and family and they can try to help you change things you do in your life to help you get
better. It would be a lot better with lifestyle changes with this disease because if you do the right things a lot of good thing could come from it like weight loss if you start eating better, healthier lungs if you could stop smoking, healthier liver if you stop drinking and try to stay away from stressful conditions thing would be better in your life and help with this disease.
