Gava Analysis
Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to conduct a General Aviation Value Analysis (GAVA) to determine whether one form of transportation is more efficient than another, in order for a group of colleagues to attend a business meeting. The intent of the assignment was to assess the value of using a business aircraft (verses commercial aircraft, personal car, train, etc.). The researcher compared and contrasted two trip locations, with multiple variables of attendees, modes of travel, and expenses associated with each variable.
Parameters of the Research
The researcher used the majority of the parameters provided by the course syllabus, specifically the “Course Projects” portion of this document (Embry-Riddle, 2013). The researcher developed his own template, due to the provided template not having detailed enough parameters to conduct a thorough analysis of the two locations and varied number of colleagues attending the conference.
For this assignment, the researcher picked Frankfurt International Airport, Frankfurt, Germany as the home airport, due to Deutsche Lufthansa Aviation Group being the selected airline company for this course. For the “short” trip (400-800 miles), the city of Prague, Czech Republic was chosen – it is approximately 420 miles from Frankfurt, Germany (Google, 2013). The “long” trip’s (800-2500 miles) chosen city was Adana, Turkey – it is approximately 2066 miles from Frankfurt (Google, 2013).
The number of colleagues going on the business trip also had to be determined. In hopes of magnifying the results of each trip, the researcher calculated the time and costs associated with two and six colleagues total, for both the trips to Prague and Adana.
