Today’s America is not my America. How do we have presidential candidates like Hillary and Trump? Have you seen the recent debates? The two of them are fighting like little children.
We only recently legalized gay marriage, unlike Canada who has had gay marriage legal since 2005. Aren’t we all supposed to be equal in America? Even if you don’t agree with gay marriage, it doesn’t matter. That’s none of your business and does not affect you in any way, so what right do you have to insult them and to suppress their livelihood? Like a democrat from Irvine, California stated, “Marriage was created to safeguard the human race... In the U.S. and other parts of the world, it is used to control permissions and freedoms, i.e. taxes, property, and medical decisions. Therefore, marriage should not be religious or based on sex. I told her that my mom said I should still talk about the positive parts of America since the theme is “The America That I Believe In”. My friend said that there were no positive things about our country. I tried explaining some things, like free education. But then ended up saying well kinda, not really. Please explain to me why only rich people can have the very best education if our country is supposed to give everyone an equal chance. Then I tried bringing up how politicians recently signed a bill last summer allowing gay marriage to be legal in every state. Although that didn’t change much, yes if I decided I wanted to marry a woman when I’m older it will be legal; but every time I hold hands with the woman I love, I’d be speculated. Like a caged animal. I began wondering what anybody was doing to start even helping our country. What is the general public doing to stop global warming? What are we doing to protect ourselves from terrorist groups like ISIS? How are we in so much debt and how is nobody talking about
