The two Mexican American characteristics that I saw in the Zoot Suite movie are, “Showing an Oppositional way of thinking, and “Rewrite the Mexican American and Mexican experience back into history”. The movie Zoot Suite was about a play that relived the trial of Henry Reyna, which is based off the real trial of Henry Leyvas. They showed how Mexican Americans in Los Angeles were being treated and how they were wrongly judged due to the way they looked. The “zoot suites” was the style of young Chicanos back in the day, and the police associated crime and violence with their look. The movie clearly expressed the inequality they faced during the jury trial. These are all examples of how the movie used Oppositional way of thinking/ questioning…
7-4. There are many advantages to locating the PRIDE database to the cloud. Dr. Flores and his partners could benefit from the increased accessibility, operating costs, minimal investment, superior security and disaster preparations, speedy development, automated on-the-go scaling and better performance. By locating the database internally, they could face cost uncertainties, significant capital investment, annual maintenance costs, ongoing support costs, difficulty in accommodating demand and the need to train staff and personnel.…

Lately, there has been a surge of bills throughout the nation regarding homosexual rights. In Texas and Alabama, either the House or the Senate decided to "narrow their rights." On the same day, Connecticut became the first state to approve "marriage-like civil unions" without a court order. Vermont and Washington State remain relatively torn, but the pending bill in Washington regarding equality for gays in housing, insurance, and employment was rejected by the Senate by a 25-24 vote.…
People will always judge others that are different based on anything. Even though it is still a problem in some areas of the world, race used to be the major object of discrimination. Now the more popular issue is a person's sexual orientation. Though it might not seem like a big deal to many people, there are many people who think otherwise; and they are usually the ones that create an environment that can be sometimes difficult to live in.…

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual transgender, and queer identified (LGBTQ) runaway and homeless youth are of the most vulnerable groups in this country. Homelessness, particularly among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, queer youth is an enduring example of a social problem in our society. In the state of California, it is estimated that roughly 15 to 25 % of the homeless youth identify as being a member of the LGBTQ population (Milburn, 2006) Communities are not aware of the real issues that these youth face, their day to day struggles.…
In our history we fought for the rights of all people. We abolished the “N” word because of discrimination and today blacks are accepted as regular people common to society. Women Fought for their rights such as voting and being able to work, so why should gays be any different?…
In May 1988, two women were making love by the side of a stream along the Appalachian Trail when they were shot eight times by a man the women had seen briefly along the trail. One woman, shot five times managed to walk to a road for help, but her friend who was shot three times, died on the trail (Kelly,…

This article talks about the hate crimes that were directed toward the LGBT community in the early 1990’s. At this time people believed that being an homosexual was a bad thing to be an a disgrace to the world hurting the many people who were homosexual. Different from race, religion, ethnicity those who defined themselves as gay or lesbian were able to hide their sexuality and pass as straight, becoming a less easier target. This was a time for many homosexuals to hide their sexuality because hate crimes were rising and those who came out were being attacked. Many gays and lesbains found it hard to live their lives because of other people discriminating and acting violent towards them.…
There are approximately nine million people in America that represent the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) community. That represents 3.5% of the American population, with that number expected to rise as new legislation makes it safer and more acceptable for the LGBT community to identify themselves (Williams Institute, 2011). The purpose of this paper is to discuss current legislation in the Federal government pertaining to LGBT rights, as well as cover the history of LGBT legislation. The American Government has come a long way with gay rights, but there is still…
The Gay Rights Movement started on ¨June 28, 1969 at the stonewall Inn in New York City¨( The American Gay Rights Movement: A Timeline) this gave LGBT people a chance to speak up about who they are proudly is important to Americans because it shows how americans fight for what they believe in and will not give up no matter what. Many people support Lgbt Rights such as Josh hutcherson, lady gaga, and Rupaul, According to Glaad.org, Josh hutcherson supports LGBT by saying ¨I'm so sick of the words 'gay' and 'lesbian'. They're just people... One day I want my son to come home from school and be like, 'I found this guy, and I love him.' And I'm gonna be like, 'Yes, you do, and that's…
It’s true that most individuals within the LGBTQ community have struggled with coming out, I was once one of them. Being raised a certain way, taught what was ‘normal’ and what’s not, can have an effect on a person who’s coming out. Coming out of the closet is a process, and some individuals do not realize that; you have to come out to yourself before you can come out to anyone else, then you come out to your friends and afterwards, your family.…
Being gay and Catholic is like enjoying mustard and coffee. While individually both pleasing, when mixed together not as appealing. My faith, an essential part of myself, is ingrained into my DNA and after what seemed like a lifetime of suppression, I also discovered inherent in myself was an attraction to women. Whether I’d like to admit it or not, growing up as a devout Catholic at times made it seem as if this aspect was unacceptable. I remember one day on the playground listening to a friend recall a bible story of God flooding a town filled with “filthy” gays and sinners. In seeking guidance from a counselor my troubles only worsened. While she wasn’t from my church, she appeared to be a woman of faith. She comforted me and genuinely cared for my grievances. However, as she proceeded to remedy my thoughts she explained how a lesbian woman at her church was “fixed” and inferred I ought to try the same method.…
