A gecko's favorite food are insects (Gecko). Almost all geckos eat insects (O'Shea 59-64). There are some geckos that eat only insects (O'Shea 59-64). Some who only eat insects include the Western Banded gecko, Leopard gecko, Common House gecko (O'Shea 59-64). There is also the West African
Fat-Tailed, Standing’s Day, and more. Some geckos also eat other smaller lizards (O'Shea 59-64). Some eat both smaller lizards and insects (O'Shea 59-64). Some geckos that eat other smaller lizards include the Louisiades Bow-Fingered gecko, Tokay gecko, Palm gecko, and more (O'Shea 59-64).
Geckos come in a variety of colors (Gecko). Geckos can be Tan, Black, Brown, or White (Gecko). They can also be more vibrant colors such as Green, Blue, Orange, Yellow, and more (Gecko). Geckos also have other traits to be able to adapt to their environment. Gecko’s toes are one of these advantages (Gazzalo). Their toes end in pads, these pads have thousands of hairlike bristles on them (Gazzalo). These bristles stick to most surfaces, and lets them walk upside down on a surface, making them very good climbers (Gazzalo).
Geckos also have catlike eyes (Gazzalo). Some geckos have a slit for a pupil, some have round pupils. Geckos have permanently closed eyelids as well (Gazzalo). Their skin has small bumpy scales (Gazzalo). Some geckos tails are very important to them. Some geckos have fat tails, which are used to store water and nutrients (O’Shea 59,61). Some types with fat tails include the Leopard gecko, West African gecko, and the Fat-Tailed gecko (O’Shea 59,61). A Wonder geckos tail is also useful to it (O’Shea 63). When a Wonder gecko is disturbed it waves its tail slowly, causing their large tail scales to rub together causing it to make a sound (O’Shea 59, 61).
Most geckos have short, flat bodies (Gazzalo). Most species of geckos make chirping, squeaking, or barking sounds (Gazzalo). Geckos are named for the loud call made by a certain species of gecko (Gazzalo). That certain species is called the Tokay gecko (Gazzalo). The Tokay gecko is the largest asian gecko (O’Shea 60). It can be recognized by its repeated “to-kay” call (O’Shea 60). A gecko's average top speed is thirty miles per hour. Their average weight is half an ounce (Gecko). Their average size is 0.04-15.7 inches long (Gecko).
