Many employers judge or assume things based on the gender of a person. Other employers simply just prefer a gender over another. Even though it happens with both genders, this type of discrimination is mostly common in women. I agree that women have responsibilities in a household but I also think not all the responsibility should be held only to the women. The thought that women need to complete these responsibilities also keep a women back from jobs, careers, and may other things. The responsibility should be divided between the two. I disagree that a man has to have control of a household. None of these are lows or stated in marital vows.
In the Wife of Bath's tale women's biggest desire was to have sovereignty over lover. I think this is true. Not only for women, but for men as well. We all want the upper hand when it comes to gender, but in order for gender preference to stop we have to change our way of thinking.
Women in the workforce are often discriminated because of their gender. They are often looked over by employers when interviewing for a job. They are also denied of promotions and payed less then male coworkers.
