because no one supports them into holding these positions of power. Since men have always held these positions, it is easy for them to be able to see themselves reaching those goals unlike women. This political ambition that women lack is directly related to the gender gap and their personal ability to influence politics. Women tend to not be as confident in their personal ability to impact politics in comparison to men due to their lack of self esteem, self confidence and sexual objectification that they face. They don't believe in themselves because no one believes in them.
All of this plays a major part in the role that gender plays in elections and it explains the difference in voter turnout. The partisan gender gap correlates to the policy position of the two major parties. Since 1964, women have chosen the Democratic Party over the Republican Party because they were more aligned with their own views in major issues like abortion. Republicans have lost the female vote in every presidential contest since 1988. Single women have the largest gender gap in vote choice among Americans because they rely more in social services than any other group. All of these factors affect the way women vote in the world today, and it also explains the difference in voter turnout.
