Gender Differences In Women Are From Mars
When dealing with clients of different genders you must approach each of them differently. The book, Women are from Venus Men are from Mars has a title that fits how a person should approach the difference in genders. Males are physically and emotionally created differently than females. When driving across the country a male will typically never stop to ask for directions. The same idea is true when approaching the subject of wellness with a male. Two-thirds (65%) of female employees feel they have control over their health compared with 50% of males (Moore). You must understand differences in men and women’s psychological aspects to be an effective coach. According to the Men’s Health video in our class, men usually do not ask which direction

The book is designed to be a handbook for coaches of all stages, whether it is a new coach, a coach in training, or an experienced coach (Stoltzfus, 2008). The book is split into six sections, all filled with sample questions that are designed to strengthen the asking skills of a coach. In addition, each section offers additional resources, tips, or hints that offers the coach an opportunity to delve deeper. The book starts off with an introductory chapter explaining the importance of strong asking skills, how to fix common mistakes, and gives sample questions a coach can use to help build a strong coaching relationship with clients (Stoltzfus, 2008). The second section gives a brief overview of the coaching process, sample questions that help structure the coaching conversation, and details two conversational models: GROW and the Coaching Funnel (Stoltzfus, 2008). Thirdly, Stoltzfus (2008) provides asking tools and exercises that will enable a coach to assist a client in identifying and defining his or her life purpose (Stoltzfus, 2008). Next, the author gives specific tools and sample questions that will allow a coach to help his or her client develop and maintain a balanced, healthy lifestyle (Stoltzfus, 2008). The fifth section provides the coach with advanced asking skills that address difficult topics such as decision-making or challenging the client (Stoltzfus, 2008). During my career I have reported to women managers and managed teams made up of men and women. Until I learned the important truth that men and women were designed to communicate differently, I had always strived to treat them the same. I now strive to understand the person and communicate with a style that is complimentary and easily understood. I have experienced firsthand many of the miscommunication exchanges described. For example, the women on my team have come to me complaining that they are unable to go to…

    | All laws support equal opportunities and therefore provide access, resources and support for males and females. However, gender may affect the knowlege of resources available to males and females. Stereotyping related to masculinity , such as being the breadwinner and protector, can limit the willingness of males to access services suc as mens heath and unemployment benefits. Females are more willing to use medical and counsilling services, there are also womens reguees for them and their children who are victoms of domestic violence.…

Whether a male or a female, no one should ignores gender patterns. “Generalizing about groups of people makes many of us nervous. We like to think of ourselves as unique individuals, not representatives of stereotypes. But it is more dangerous to ignore patterns than to articulate them,” (Tannen 213). Men and women have the difference in the way they talk, even they live or work together. People like to think of ourselves as unique individuals, not representatives of stereotypes. In order to articulate these patterns, we have to focus on three aspects that cause people problem to ignore patterns of gender. They are differences in conversation goals, asking for direction and trouble talk.…

The gender ‘female’ goes through a lot of gender bias issues as men are favored in a lot of place, especially in the work field. Men and women are paid differently at the same level and status of work in an organization, which means that the income of a woman is less than that of a man. Not just this but also the way women are treated in the office or whatever their work place is. They lack opportunities, trust and most importantly the due respect. However, they are put to work much more than men.…

Another common problem could be pre decisional dissonance. Maybe your manager does not feel that you are able to perform the job well enough because of your sex (Plous, pg. 26). For example, I work in a call center now taking calls mostly from female callers. I have take calls saying that they did not like the way the previous caller spoke to them because he was a man and did not feel sympathetic toward them. Although the male answered the questions that were asked just the same as a female would have and gave the very same answer, the person calling in was more willing to accept the same answer they received previously because you are a female like they are. The manager may look at it like the male worker just cannot handle the calls properly because of their sex. Your manager may also have post-decisional dissonance (Plous, pg. 28), where because you may be performing the job well, the manager already has made up his or her mind that you are not performing well at all and will not change the way they are perceiving your work.…

Men and women’s bodies react differently to some of the same external forces, such as a disease and sickness. “With heart disease, many cancers, immunological disorders, and HIV, women present symptoms unlike men’s and respond to different medications and dosages” (Berg 140). Because medical practitioners fail to recognize these differences, many women are improperly diagnosed or receive insufficient treatment. For example, cardiovascular disease has a high mortality rate among both men and women, but the warning signs of a heart attack differ between the two sexes. Men suffer from “chest and arm pain,” whereas women complain about feeling “overwhelmingly tired and dizzy, with occasional shortness of breath” (Berg 139). Educating healthcare providers on the different needs of men and women could potentially save a life. “For too long, women have been treated as ‘little men,’ without an appreciation of the differences in prevalence and symptoms among various conditions and what those differences mean for diagnosis and treatment” (Berg 141). Luckily, since the formation of the Society for Women’s Health Research in 1990, more attention has been paid to biological differences of men and women, allowing for better diagnoses and…

It has always been interesting to me to see how people and most especially professionals react when that is predominantly populated by one gender and instead of both this include the way interacts in the workplace with a person of an opposite gender. There are two areas within communication that really got my attention; they are: how does your gender identity affect you as an asset to an organization and is one gender effectiveness better than the other or is inferiority complex that has been passed down through times.…

In an article entitled, “Men are from Mars, Women Are from Venus,’’ John Gray explains in what ways men and women differ from each other. He says, women complain about men that when they talk to them, they do not pay an attention. Men complain about women that they try to change them all the time. He compares men and women to Mars and Venus respectively to get an idea. John Gray explains, Martians are significant having supremacy and develops their proficiency to accomplish their goal. For Martians, when they reach their goal by themselves made them satisfy. Because of such a characteristic, men deny when women offers help and correct them. He says that Martians wear uniforms to reveal their work rather than different apparels as Venusians do. John Gray says about Martians “they are more interested in “objects” and “things” rather than people and feelings” (186). He says that Venusians believe in relationships, communication and love. John Gray states that Martians hang out for business talk and Venusians for familiar and open conversation. According to Gray, offering help to women makes them feel beloved and valued, while men feel pathetic, despicable and useless. Venusians believe in if something works is always wo men then he feels like he is weak and broken. Indeed, she is making mistake by thinking supporting him to grow.…

Gender roles are a theoretical construct involving a set of social and behavioral norms that, within a specific culture, are widely considered to be socially appropriate for individuals of a specific sex. The perception of gender roles includes attitudes, actions, and personality traits associated with a particular gender within that culture. There is ongoing debate as to which gender differences in behavior and personality are due to innate personality of the person and which are due to cultural or social factors, and are therefore the product of socialization, or to what extent gender differences are due to biological and physiological differences.…
