Lysander plans to run away with her, as her father will not let them marry. Instead of having the tone of a foolish, impossible plan, Shakespeare describes it as a romantic getaway from the problems of reality. The intonation indicates that a man causing a foolish action while not under any influence is an exact, romanticized fashion of love. The one loyal lover, Hermia, is not signaling or asserting as smart in any way, even acting true in the most suggestive scenes played. While in a forest alone together, Lysander suggests she sleep with him. He continues persuasively until she proves her point of responding negatively: “Lysander riddles very prettily. Now much beshrew my pride if Hermia meant to say Lysander lied. But, gentle friend. For love and courtesy, lie off further human modesty. Such separation, as may well be said, Becomes a virtuous bachelor and a maid. So far be distant; and good night, my friend. Thy love ne’er alter till thy sweet life end!” (Shakespeare 55). Her claim is proven artfully and accurately, but Shakespeare puts it in a rather foolish light as she sleeps alone, inducing Robin to believe Lysander was the mentally abusive Athenian who did not love the woman who desired him most. The mood sets to a regretful event within the dramatic irony that Lysander has fallen in love with another as Hermia searches life and death for her to-be husband. Again, a daft tone sets as Hermia begins to tirade to Helena about Lysander’s love now towards the other. Lysander wills to do just the same to Demetrius about the woman they are both fighting for. It is unfortunate how remarkable a note that Shakespeare makes about two woman fighting over a man connotes as foolish and silly, yet two men fighting over a woman is courageous and
