How has your gender role socialization influenced your life? Gender role socialization influenced my answers partially because of my parents. I have been taught that loving someone is not about how attractive they are or about how similar they are to you. Love is a choice. When you love someone, you put their needs before you own. As I have grown up, I have watched how my parents love each other. They may not always agree, but they always love each other. They have the same values and beliefs, and took vows to love each other until death. Although they are older and their external beauty is fading, they find beauty in who they are internally and cherish their love. I have watched my mother’s role and father’s role. My mother exhibits the traditional female role socialization, bonds with her children more, and has a lower income job. My father exhibits the traditional male role socialization, works more than my mother, and is not able to bond with his children as much. Because my father does not exhibit emotions as much, he is more capable of handling high-stress and unfavorable situations. This quality has helped him in his job so that he can provide for his family. I have developed a personality similar to my mother’s. We are both very sensitive and ambitious.
