Even today you can take a look around and see gender bias. In the music video called “Love Me” by Lil Wayne that features artists, Drake and Future, women are locked up in cages and the ones who aren’t, are posing in a very sexual manner, all being portrayed as obscene objects for men’s pleasure. Clearly the men have a dominating role and full power in the music video. The rappers hint that their happiness in life and in a relationship is based on their own pleasure where a woman should be treated in a less lady-like manner. All seems to add up to women striving for the attention from dominate males.
The video portrays women to be promiscuous with men and that their relations are not meant to be more than a certain level. Women are in cages acting as wild animals looking to mate. The women who aren’t in the cages are all posing in a manner that is very inappropriate. The women are dangling on the rapper like they are a piece of meat. All this seem to go against the way society views women as being elegant, passive, and passionate. The one way that this all matches the way the society portrays women is that the women in the video have a minimum of clothing on and it is known for woman to be flirtatious by showing off their physical features.
The video shows that the men are dominating the women and have the full power. This seems to match most masculine roles very well. It all can lead to be self-centered in a way. In the video the rappers say “I don’t care what my haters say as long as my females love me” meaning that they can get whoever they want no matter what anyone says about them. The males are so dominate in this video that the women seem more like puppets to serve and please the man by any means at any time they want. The rapper states that once a female leaves he moves onto the next one like a new watch. So once he is pleased by one he moves onto the next and is happy as can be.
In the video it shows a bed with women in it pointing out
