In the case study, it states that gender selection to be 100 million business for both India and China (Jasjit, 2010). A plan that GE can take to confirm that all of the ultrasound devices have warning labels to state that it is prohibited to use the device to determine the sex of the fetus. Also, the individuals that violate the device to determine the sex of the fetus will be subject to punishment or fines by the government. The other dilemma that GE Healthcare is facing is whether it is commendable to be conservative in marking the device while paying attention to the large volume of fair deals. Conservative would mean it is justifying the illegal use of the device. This ethical issue can be fixed by creating a marketing campaign that should be combined with limitations during the sale to ensure that that the device is used appropriately.

GE Healthcare breeched the theories of professional and applied ethics by inefficiently monitoring the device in the Indian and Chinese markets. GE Healthcare increases the access of the device for the illegal activity. The idea of determining the gender and terminating of the fetus is unethical. By failing to access the impact of the device led to moral failures. There is the possibility to accept that GE understood the immoral consequence of their device and ignored it. This falls under a professional and applied ethical breach.
