In the operating room there is no room for eras, so details are key to successes. The next part of my journey consists of going to medical school, getting an internship, as well as completing residency afterward. The medical school will last up to 4 years with the internship combined into the last 2 years of being in medical school. Internship and residency combined are usually between 3 to 8 years (How to Become a Physician or Surgeon). All states require physicians and surgeons to be licensed. To qualify for a license, I must graduate from an accredited medical school, complete residency training in a specialty that I choose, and pass written and practical exams. There are many different graduate schools that are really great but the three that I have real interests for are PITT School of Medicine, Oregon Health Science…

To become an anesthesiologist you must get a four year bachelor's degree, and then enter four years of graduate education which leads to a degree in medicine or osteopathy. After receiving a medical degree, you then have to complete four more years and receive an anesthesiology residency. That amounts to a sum of twelve more years of schooling after high school. The starting pay of anesthesiologist and benefits attracted me to the career. An anesthesiologist enters the pay scale with average pay above six figures per year.…
Surgeons operate on patients to treat injuries, such as broken bones; diseases, such as cancerous tumors; and deformities. During the course of an operation, the surgeon must make important decisions about the patient’s health, safety, and welfare. Additionally, the surgeon must work to ensure cooperation among the other members of the surgical team and make sure everything runs smoothly in the operating room. There are several settings a surgeon can work in: a private practice, academic medicine, institutional practice, hospitals, ambulatory surgery settings, and government service programs. Working as a surgeon can be very stressful and is not a job for everyone. To be a surgeon someone has to be intelligent, creative, courageous and a leader. Being a surgeon is a life long process and you must have discipline and be as flexible as possible. Its very important that surgeons seek out all opportunities to be in the operating room. Becoming a surgeon is a very lengthy process. It requires four years of undergraduate school, four years of medical school and 3-10 years of residency and fellowship training. John Hopkins University, Harvard University, Stanford University and University of Pennsylvania are some of the best colleges to go to, to become a surgeon. Doctors are always narrowed down to one specific field. This is determined during their schooling. To become a doctor you need to attend at least eight years of college. Four of those years are to receive your Bachelor’s degree. During those four years you take all of your core classes, which include a lot of psychology and philosophy and about three levels of many different sciences. After you graduate you then have to apply to medical school. This is often an entirely different college. You take in depth courses on each branch of medicine, which normally takes about four more years. These courses involve a lot of memorization of every common and uncommon illness and their symptoms. After their final four years, they get their experience in a…
