Generation Gap

Analysis of a Text There will be always a generation gap between a generation and another one. Generation gap is a broad difference in values and attitudes between one generation and another, especially between children and their Parents. This can be defined as occurring when older and younger people do not understand each other because of their different experiences, opinions, habits and behavior. Generation gap isn't a new feature of our era or a new phenomenon but it has been existed ages ago. The idea of generation gap has been discussed many times by many authors. Brenda Powers, a newspaper writer, wrote an article that involved the concept of generation gap. In her article she discusses the situation of teenagers as being responsible for our nations' future (Powers). She concluded that they are careless now but they will grow to be responsible. However, her essay was not effective because her conclusion doesn't seem to be convincing. In her article, “paranoid parenting grows on teenagers”, Powers discussed the generation gap between two generations and the resulting differences. The two generations she discussed were the millennium babies who were born in late 80's and 90's and the baby boomers that were born early in the 60's. Brenda Powers, discusses the fact that as times goes by the young people now will become older and the teenagers of nowadays will be required to take care of them and their country as well. However, they are too spoiled and not qualified for this role because they are careless teenagers now (Powers) .They only care about their desires and needs and wants everything for themselves and their own welfare. Brenda Power starts her essay by giving some facts about teenagers of nowadays and their attitude.
