Generations – Equipping for the Future
Offering - Psa. 127:1 Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.

Generations – Equipping for the Future

God has given believers two advantages of ministry in the last days:

At the time Paul wrote his Second Letter to Timothy he was anticipating that the time of his martyrdom was near. Unlike his situation during his first imprisonment in Rome, Paul on this occasion saw no chance of his being acquitted and released. (Cf. 2 Timothy 4:6-8). He wrote this letter to say farewell. He desired to write one final word of encouragement to his dear son in the faith, Timothy, an encouragement that would also benefit the church.

Advantage #1 – He has told us what will happen

2Tim. 3:1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.

2Tim. 3:2-9 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. 6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth—men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

Advantage #2 – He has told us what to do

1. Follow Godly Examples – Ones that… * Have nothing to hide. * Teach the truth. * Practice what they preach. * Aren’t afraid of persecution.

2Tim. 3:10-13 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

Luke 6:40 A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.

2. Continue in What’s Been Learned

2Tim. 3:14-15 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

3. Get Equipped “In Righteousness” * Teaching * Correcting * Rebuking * Training

2Tim. 3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

It was a personal letter from Paul to one of Paul’s dear friends Titus. Paul had become very fond of his brother in Christ and as a great spiritual leader; he wanted to write him words of encouragement and wisdom. Titus is specifically for people who have been called into ministry. One of the many main goals behind writing Titus was clear up to a misunderstanding in the churches of Crete. Another reason behind the writing was to help the churches in and around that area grow. Paul wanted to challenge them in their faith, knowledge, and living a godly lifestyle. Finally, one of Paul’s last and most known reasons was to stop the false teachers. Like all of the Epistles, Paul came to challenge and encourage Christian believers not to stay content in the life they now live but to grow and be uncomfortable in their walk with God. Paul had a very clear message, he and spoke only from the Word and what God told him. Paul shared the basic knowledge of what it means to follow Jesus and to know how to walk out a God-fearing…

The letters that Paul wrote while imprisoned focused on the unification of the church, and encouraged followers to be steadfast in their mission to spread the gospel. He addressed the topic of slavery when writing to his friend, Philemon, who was angry about his slave, Onesimus, running away. Pauls asked Philemon to not only spare the life of Onesimus, but to also count him as a brother in Christ Jesus. In his later letters, Paul spoke about that fact that the church should be prepared to face persecution, and should be prepared to give their lives for the cause, just as Jesus gave his life for the mankind.…

I agree with the premise of the essay that the four generations discussed have very different points of view about work and the preferred ways of management. In my country too, this all four generations have very different points of view about work and the preferred ways of management. The Veterans, Baby Boomers, and Generation xers these three generations' people have completely different points of view in lifestyle, their ways of view at work and home, conversation, and relationship than my generation's people in my country. For example, my grand mother and grand father always dressed properly, and done their work on time. Consequently, my cousins never dressed properly on their work, and do not done their work on time even if they have time…

In the epistle of Romans Paul is introducing himself to the Romans and explains the message he plans on teaching before he arrives in Rome. The epistle was sent from Corinth before Paul had sailed of for Troas during Paul’s second missionary journey. Paul had friends in Rome, whom he had planned to visit on several occasions, but had always been prevented from doing so. He had several reasons for being interested in the Roman church: his desire to see the imperial city, their need for instruction, his desires to stop any Judaizing activity, and his hope for possible support for mission to Spain. The central theme of Romans is the revelation of the righteousness of God to man, and its application to mans spiritual needs (Tenney 1985, 304–305).…

The pursuit of effective discipleship is a lifelong calling that requires every resource one can ever muster (Barna 2001, p99). Discipleship must be intentional with the goal of imparting life transformation. Without planning, an attempt at imparting biblical knowledge may turn into a “society for protecting, preserving, and propagating pet theological hobby horses” (Aldrich, 1981).…

    Second Timothy Analysis

64 and A.D. 67, likely occurring after the events of Acts. Paul writes this letter while enduring his second Roman imprisonment, realizing that his death was imminent. Paul, as a spiritual father to Timothy, writes to his son in the faith one final time to warn against false teaching and to provide instruction to the church at Ephesus through Timothy’s conduct and church life. Even though false teaching is addressed, Second Timothy differs slightly from the other two pastoral epistles in that this letter is written on a much more personal level than the others. Timothy, the intended recipient of Paul’s letter, served as one of Paul’s inner circle and accompanied him on his second and third missionary journeys. In Paul’s first letter to Timothy, he provides encouragement in his role as minister and addresses his responsibilities for that office. He also warns against false teachings and exhorts Christians concerning their conduct. The encouragement provided to Timothy in the second letter implores him to suffer alongside the apostle (2 Tim. 1:8), hold firm and guard the faith, faithfully pass the Gospel message along, handle the Word correctly and to allow it to guide his teaching and life. Included in the closing chapter of Second Timothy, Paul also makes requests concerning travel and personal effects. As a final letter to a friend and co-laborer in ministry, Paul seeks to inspire steadfastness in…

    The House Arrest Quotes

This quote shows that when you do something crazy without even pondering over it, then there has to be an emotion controlling it. In Timothy’s case, the emotion controlling his actions is love. Another smaller action of his compassion is when he signs up for the Carnival of Giving to help his family and his baby brother, although he is scared of what people might think of him, his heart leads him to taking this risk. The most important and impactful loving scene in the book, is when Timothy is driving Levi to the hospital in a stolen car without a license, but saving Levi’s life, but this only gets Timothy right back to where he started, juvie. Throughout the book, Timothy's heart grows along with the trouble he is in. It seems that as the book progresses and the more love and compassion Timothy shows for Levi and their family, the more reasons there are for him to go to juvie. Punching a kid, driving and stealing a car, and breaking the rules of house arrest, all out of love for a baby. Why does Timothy give up a normal life for Levi? Why is Timothy on house arrest? Why does Timothy steal a car? Why does Timothy steal a wallet? All of these questions fall…

In the Book of Romans Paul wrote many letters answering questions about the human world, mankind’s relations with God, the natural world and most importantly the plan of salvation. Paul wrote these letters to tell the truth, to tell that no matter what race or religion, we are all sinner and the only way to truly become righteous is though faith in Jesus Christ. In Rome at that time you had two extremes of people, the heathens, and those who thought they were holier than thou (Jews). In todays society we still have those two extremes but we also have a middle ground, those who are straddling the fence. Paul just wanted the entire human race to know that we are guilty before God for both past and future sins.…

Many people believe that previous generation of Americans was completely different than the generation that lives now days. Ideology and interests have completely changed. For instance, we all know that previous generation cared a lot for peace in the world, human rights and equality of mankind. Martin Luther King, John. F. Kennedy and Malcolm X are people who fought for equality among people and most famous representatives of Generation X. But compared to the previous generation, my generation is completely different, and many people are having a debate whether it’s good or bad. Thomas Friedman in his essay “Generation Q” called current generation quiet American for a good reason. In his opinion they are not outraged as they should be (98-100). On the other hand, Rob Fishman argues that “Generation Q” is too ready to defer to technology (72-75). After reading these articles, it’s clear that both authors define this generation from different perspectives; however, they both discuss an influence technology had on people. In Friedman’s perspective, this generation has become too quiet because of what technology has brought. But according to Fishman’s response, people of this generation are taking full advantage of technology in good ways rather than hiding behind screens…
