Geneva Birdsong Character Analysis
The amount of stress Geneva Birdsong was under during the war is hard to imagine. Being a mother did not come natural to her, and it became evident. Being in a failing marriage, raising a child, and watching her health diminish at a rapid rate was something Geneva couldn't handle. Fortunately, Renny was able to be there for Saranell as much as he could. Although Geneva might have been able to handle small situations better, motherhood was not an easy task. After living a lie for so long, Geneva Birdsong was not equipped to be a proper mother to Saranell.

“Animal Alphabet” by Ale Lluch is used to teach the Alphabet both capitalized and lowercased letters, reading, spelling, pronunciation, and associating words with their meaning. It includes animals in the book to associate letters with specific animals and how these animals are pronounced. The book has thick cardboard pages which uses sliding pieces. On the top of the moving peace it displays both upper and lowercase letters of a specific letter in the alphabet. When you move the piece to the left it reveals an animal associated with that letter as well as the spelling of it. The artist used a fun technique that allows the children to be directly involved with the book by allowing them to slide the piece back and forth. They see the letters in the alphabet and then the book shows them how letters associate with the sound of animal types. For example it has the letter B, b and then the child slides the piece and it displays a picture of a bear with how the word bear is spelled. The person reading the book to the child would pronounce the B sound and then say the word bear. My daughter is 3 years old and she can recognize letters and…

Mrs. Ross is Robert's mother who has issues with closeness to people that she truly loves in the novel of Timothy Findley's The Wars. To best understand Robert's relationship with his mother Mrs. Ross, their relationship should be seen from the perspective of Mrs. Ross. She did not show any affection towards Robert when Rowena died even though she knew how Robert felt whereas Mr. Ross was concerned about Robert. Mrs. Ross' decision to burden Robert with this inhuman act, and his failure to do so lead to the most revealing monologue relevant to their relationship: “You think that Rowena belonged to you. Well I’m here to tell you, Robert, no one belongs to anyone…….. I can’t keep anyone alive. Not anymore.” (Page 28). . Robert's relationship with his mother prior to the death of his sister Rowena seems normal in the sense that Mrs. Ross shows her motherly concern for Robert when needed. After the death of Robert's sister Rowena, the Ross family seems to be broken. Family members question whose fault it was that she fell and who should ultimately be held responsible. Robert had been closest to Rowena, and for this reason Mrs. Ross decided that he was to be the one who would take responsibility of killing her rabbits. Mrs. Ross never encouraged Robert to do what he wanted as a child. “He will die,…
