Genghis Khan's Impact On Society

Leaders come in every shape, size, background, ethnicity, and religion. In class we have determined that leaders need background information and experience before they can lead. Genghis Khan and Richard I are no exception to these base ideas. Both leaders were influential on their people, but they are both seen as very different people today. Between leaders there is always one that i more successful, in this case it happens to be Genghis Khan. Genghis Khan exemplifies an influential leader by his impact on his people. Before Genghis, the Mongols were an accomplished nomadic tribe. While this may have been good, the tribe was yet to be an established united tribe. Genghis united them and made sure his tribe was always well off. Once they were united, they were able to progressively take over the largest empire in history. This accomplishment also had a negative impact to other people around them. People became so racked with fear of the mention of Genghis that they surrendered almost immediately. At just age 14 he became the duke of Aquitaine. Richard was rebellious and favoured his mother over his father. He and his brothers came together to protest against his father for giving their youngest brother three castles. This lasted for about a year and after their relationship was never the same. Richard became the King of England through inheritance, like his other titles. Richard did what he wanted and stayed where he wanted; however, while he did not care for much for most he cared greatly for his mother. When his mother was locked up from his father's causing he came to her rescue, earning his nickname Richard the Lionheart. Another important fact to note is that Richard was not the biggest fan of England and left no heirs of his own to succeed him in the throne, causing the throne to go to his brother
