There have been countless debates between nurture and nature in regards to which shapes a person’s identity. Personally I believe that a combination of these two factors truly influences and ultimately molds a person. However that being said I do have a slight bias that the nurture element does more to shape a person and contributes to socialization. Since every individual’s gene come from our parents, I consider that we share at least some commons behaviors with our parents. Case 1: Genie The Wild Child. Genie was locked in a room for 13 years and she lacked social skills and didn’t form any type of language skills. She was essentially feral. She didn’t show any behaviors of being human. Due to being locked and shut out from socialization she developed her own version of self and transgressed into being feral which essentially means she went into survival mode. She could not become a functioning member of society due to this and if she was given love (nurture) she would have been a functioning member of society. Case 2: People with male pattern baldness. Though this seems like a comical issue there is no denying that balding will ruin a males image of self-worth and this is often the case when the cause for balding is often hereditary. If your father was bald, and your grandfather was bald there is a good chance that you might be bald as well. There is nothing a person can due to fight baldness except for maybe surgery because if you predestined to go bald you can’t really do anything; and when it strikes your self-confidence goes down but you eventually learn to deal with in but this is often difficult to come to terms with if you are still a young adult, and currently there is no way to block of the gene …show more content…
In order for a person to fully be integrated to society there must be a balance between nurture and nature because you can’t have one without the other; you have to be born (nature) and you automatically start forming your own opinions on things as you get older which are commonly influenced by your peers, your geographical location, and events that happen in your life
