The Holocaust was a mass murder a 6 million Jews and millions other people leading up to, and during, World War II. The killings took place in Europe between 1933 in 1945 and was organized underneath the German Nazi party which was led by Adolf Hitler. After this mass genocide had occurred many years later the government, teachers, and many more try to pretend that this event is not occur. You would think we would not want history to be repeated and that we would use this experience to learn from, however The Holocaust has now became a forbidden topic. Professor Christopher Browning talks about in his article, “Lessons from the Holocaust”, “ In some ways the Holocaust is singular, I'd avoid the word unique just because that gets you into a semantic argument over what ultimately uniqueness constitutes as an historical event, since all events are unique as an historical event, since all events are unique; but then they say well it's uniquely unique” (Browning Par 3). The Holocaust is significant because an entire ethnicity group was almost wiped out, the fact that mankind basically sat around and watched this take place is disgusting. The government knows everything that is occurring, they knew the concentration camps in Germany were not safe and what was truly happening. This still occurs today in North Korea, when the government knows the way the citizens are truly treated yet they sugar coat it to the public.
