Genogram Analysis
Creating a three generation genogram of my family's health history allowed me to realize and understand the patterns of these diseases, illnesses, and health-related conditions. Listing all the health information for the people in family made me recognize that Urinary Tract Infection and High Blood Pressure were both common on my mother's side of the family, while HBP is also the most common on my dad's side of the family along with two people who also have UTI. I can see how my mom and her one sister and one brother developed UTI from their dad, but I do know that they have had all of theirs treated. She also recently had laser eye surgery because her visions were getting worst. As for me, the only health related condition I had experienced was insomnia, which, looking back in my family's genogram, my aunt from my mom's side has, even until now. I started having insomnia when I was about eight years old, and it lasted for almost a year and a half, but after that, it went away. I never had insomnia ever since even though I still experience difficulty sleeping from time to time which I feel is normal because of my busy life. UTI and HBP are the patterns I can see the most that can increase the possibility of my siblings and I of developing as well. HBP can lead to worst complications, such as other cardiovascular diseases, like stroke, and diabetes, which shows in my family genogram. However, this does not mean we will have these health problems, especially since we make sure to eat healthy and get our regular checkups. Creating this genogram opened my eyes more to how genetics plays a major role in health related conditions and made me pay attention to my diet and how I am taking care of my body so I do not develop the same health problems, especially HBP and UTI,
