Bach came from a family of musicians. Due to the death of his parents, at the age of ten, Bach was taken in by his older step brother/church organist, Johann Christoph. Christoph felt the need to provide Bach with musical instruction, which led him to enrolling Bach in a local school. In 1703, Bach received his first job playing the violin and harpsichord at the court of Duke Johann Ernst in Weimar. He was a great performer and he landed many job opportunities as an organist in many churches such as the New Church in Arnstadt. Bach also wrote many famous church cantatas. In 1717 he accepted a position with Prince Leopold of Anholt-Cöthen. Bach is considered to be the best composer in the Baroque era.
Georg Frideric Handel and Johann Sebastian Bach are both extremely important composers and musicians in the Baroque period. Handel, in my opinion was more humble and creative. His music was based off of his own life experiences while a lot of Bach’s music was gathered from the composers he liked. Bach did travel but often times it was not to perform yet it was to listen to other performers. Therefor, I feel as if Georg was more of the international composer yet they both performed for very entitled people which was very
