George Burton Adams Influenced My Life

George Burton Adams once said, "There is no such thing as a self made man. We are made up of thousands of others. Everyone who has ever done a kind deed for us, or spoken one word of encouragement to us, has entered into the makeup of our character and thoughts, as well as our success.", presenting that no person becomes who they are on their own. Adams concludes that any person someone has ever come in contact with has shaped their life in one way or another, making them the person they are today. Through interactions with both the major and minor influences in my life, I have been constructed into person I have become and I can credit a large portion of my identity to numerous leaders.

My parents have taught me many life lessons and have given endless knowledgeable advice, they have ultimately molded my character the most into the person I have become. My teachers have taught me an infinite amount of life lessons such as responsibility and how to adapt to new situations, which have both been valuable as I have grown up and as I am expected to accomplish more on my own. My coaches have taught me teamwork and what it means to be a teammate. Lastly, my friends have taught me to be aware of the fact that in high school, every single person is going through something tough and to treat everyone with respect and kindness.
