George Lopez was born on April 23, 1961 in Mission Hills, California. He is an American actor, comedian, and talk show host. At only two months old he was abandoned by his father and later on at 10 years old he was abandoned by his mother. His grandmother, Benita Gutierrez, and step-grandfather, Refugio Gutierrez took care of him. It was not easy for George to do stand up comedy at first. In 1979, he had his first experience as a stand up comic. He was terrified by his first experience and stayed away from it for a few years. He couldn’t keep it off his mind and in the 1980s he started becoming a successful comedian. He was performing stand up comedy in comedy clubs and playing small parts in films. In the 1990s he played
some roles in movies such as Ski Patrol and Fatal Instinct. Also, in 1993 he married Ann Serrano. In the following years they had a daughter named Mayan Lopez. Later on in 2000, Sandra Bullock approached George and would help him get his own show. In 2002 he became one of the few Latinos to star in a television comedy series. His show was George Lopez. It originally ran from 2002-2007 on ABC for six seasons. Afterwards in 2007 it ran on Nick at Nite. In 2005, he had learned he had a genetic disorder that caused deterioration of the kidneys. He was going to need a kidney transplant and his wife chose to be the donor. In 2009, he was going to get his own late night talk show on TBS. It was called Lopez Tonight. In 2010 he received a cancellation notice of the show and only had two seasons. George Lopez was also named one of "The Top 25 Hispanics in America" by Time magazine in 2005.
