When Max was in hiding before he went to the Hubermann’s it wasn’t very enjoyable. He was in a dark cell with no food or water for a few weeks with only his suitcase to keep himself company. A person came and gave him some food, toiletries, a map, a key, and a train ticket to Germany. When Max was hiding in the Hubermann’s house he first stayed in Liesel’s room because he was sleeping. If Hitler wasn’t mentioned in this story, it would be very different because there wouldn’t be a reason for most events in this book to happen. For example, Max had to go into hiding because Hitler was looking for Jews to put in concentration camps.
