Between 1941 and 1945, Jews were targeted and severely massacred creating the largest genocide to happen during the 20th century. During the Holocaust, over 11 million people were killed by German Nazis who came in power and believed that Germans were the superior race. One million Jewish children were killed alone. A chain of over 42,500 facilities controlled by Germans were used to confine and kill Jews. About 500,000 people were participants in the preparation and execution of the Holocaust. The German government passed laws to exclude all Jews from society, starting the stages that were precisely carried out to begin the persecution and genocide.
