Since the start of the United States of America, our greatest leaders have been our presidents. They are who we trust to run our country in an honorable way. A great leader instills good morals, communication, and honesty. George W. Bush is a great example of this, he is one of America’s finest Presidents. He led our country with courage and pride when faced with tough times and he never failed to care for the citizens.
George W. Bush was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 6, 1946. He was the first son of George Herbert Walker Bush and Barbara Pierce Bush. He was raised in a home involved in politics and business. His grandfather worked as a Wall Street banker and a progressive Republican senator from Connecticut. His father was also very influential on his life being a diplomat, vice president and president of the United States. In 1948 Bush’s family moved to Midland, Texas, for his dad’s job in the oil business. He lived there with his family until seventh grade when they moved to Houston in 1961. George then was sent to Phillips Academy, a boarding school in Andover, Massachusetts where he attended ninth through twelfth grade being an all-around athlete in baseball, basketball, and football.1
After graduating high school, Bush was accepted into Yale University in 1964 where he received a bachelor’s degree in history. He became president of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and let his grades take a back seat to Yale’s social life. “He became a member of Yale’s secretive Skull and Bones society, an invitation-only club whose membership contains some of America’s most powerful and elite family members.”2 Bush enlisted in the Texas Air National Guard just two weeks before he graduated from Yale. He was accepted and commissioned as a second lieutenant and then earned his fighter pilot certification in June of 1970.3 After Bush completed his active duty with the Texas Air National Guard, he was accepted into Harvard Business School, where he
