Georgia Tech Reflection
Visiting over fifteen schools, I was told that when you found the “right” place you would know it. Ostensibly a bit whimsical, they were correct and Georgia Tech is that place. It began with being warmly greeted by students and staff during the information session. During the session, the MOVE organization, Georgia Tech’s biggest volunteer organization, intrigued me. The organization represents the best qualities I search for in people, kindness and dedication. Furthermore, the opportunities the organization offers, to truly affect change in the community, is incredible. This organization and the students I had the pleasure to meet embody and represent the Georgia Tech motto of progress and service. Moreover, it was fortuitous that there were

When I found out I was moving to Alabama, I thought I would be surrounded by farm animals and miles of uninhabited terrain. Little did I know I was moving to the best place in the world. From the food to the theaters, Birmingham is the coolest city in the South. What I love about Samford is how much impact the university has on the community. Their community engagement sticks out to me because many other colleges focus on money and their sports teams, while at Samford, they invest in everyone. From art clubs to church ministry activities, Samford is involved. I want to be involved in my community as much as I can while I am at Samford because I know that I can be a difference…

Southern Methodist University’s mission statement resonates with the same values I admire about a University such as “promoting an environment emphasizing individual dignity and worth”. Growing up I lacked essential self-worth. Upon beginning highs school I was very confused and frustrated person. I was learning to accept myself for being gay and the conservative and traditional environment I was in made it difficult for me to express who I was. The misrepresentation and disrespect I gained from being a double minority in high school fueled a passion in me which became the catalyst for positive change in my academic career. Since I began to attend Tarrant County College, I have joined the Cornerstone honors program offered at the campus and…

Being a community, network, and family details my view of the “Hokie Spirit.” At Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VT), I am certain that there is overwhelming support from professors and students because of the unique atmosphere I perceived when touring. While walking around the brick buildings, I felt as if all students knew each other, or that each of them had something in common. This aspect that every person who strode pass me entailed, was pride or “Hokie Spirit.” I could sense the fulfillment each individual had for attending one of the top public schools in the United States, and because of this, “Hokie Spirit” flourishes throughout the campus.…

I would like to begin by saying that I am honored to be a nominee for membership into the 2013 Senior Honor Society of York College of Pennsylvania. I take passion in my academic studies and my community involvement. The opportunity to be recognized for the impact I have made on my college and local community is truly flattering. After spending my first two years at Millersville University, I began my studies at York College in my third year of college as a junior. Living in Spring Grove, I made the decision to live at home, work a part-time job, and commute to York College. These factors are all things that could have impacted my campus-life involvement, but I was determined to not let these factors impact my college experience. I jumped head first into the York College Community and was accepted with open arms into whatever groups I wanted to become affiliated with on campus.…

As a humble alumna of Savannah State University, I believe I have much to achieve in life. As the youngest of four siblings who all value education and prosperity, I was taught to excel in everything I do. I am a native of Savannah, Georgia and I have lived here all of my life. Due to great effort and my love for learning, I received a four year academic scholarship to Savannah State University (which I am so grateful for).…

Throughout my high school experience, the one memory I remember the most that helped me the most would have to be the time I interned at a local non-profit, Lettuce Live Well. I decided that I needed to encounter more challenges in my life; as if my life wasn’t challenging enough. I decided to work with a non-profit because I knew I would get all the experience I can get while getting to work head on with the local community; this was what made it all worth it. The one place that I found I can get the most experience while still connecting with the local community was an organization call Lettuce Live Well.…

Before I came to Randolph-Macon, I was narrow-minded, not social, and was against coming out of my comfort zone. My mindset before coming to college was that I could come to college for 4 years, coming home almost every weekend, and go right back home and work on the water or work in the office of my parent’s clam and oyster company. Now I have broadened my horizons and see myself doing so much more with my life. Making it through that terrible first week of college, I realized I could make it through anything and handle anything life threw to at…

We are shown a scene where the college counselor is talking to high school students about their future following a montage of teachers talking to students, in this montage the students seem very uninterested and bored as the teachers talk about the hazard that may occur to them. The main character(David) also seems isolated as he is shown watching the show “pleasantville”where everything is perfect as well as knowing exactly what the characters say showing that he's intrigued and as if he's connected to pleasantville and he is one of the characters. Later we meet another main character whose david's sister (Jennifer) who is a completely different person than her brother as she is more of a 90s stereotypical party kid and more popular as well…

Each alumna of Georgia Tech is uniquely qualified for any position, because over four years we were hard wired to solve problems from in the shortest amount of steps possible. I am actually excited to learn problem solving skills, because I get problems done. However, it takes me double the amount of time that it takes other people to solve the same issue. Hopefully, now that I am at Tech: I will learn how to work smarter and not harder, by studying and learning from my…

For my post-secondary schooling, I have been accepted into, and planning to attend, Georgia Southern University. I chose this school for many different reasons, and going to orientation expanded those reasons. Georgia Southern offers many great opportunities for what I want to do in life. The campus is about an hour away from where I currently live, so it is close to home but not too close to home. The professors and staff are friendly and want to see the students succeed and are always ready to help. I could go on and on about why I chose this school, but I believe…
