Georgina Hayes is a girl who lives in Darby, North Carolina. After her father walked out on her, her family was evicted from their apartment. Georgina, her brother Toby, and her mom now lives in a car. One day after school, Georgina and her brother Toby saw a 500 dollar reward for finding a missing dog. She then came up with a genius idea to go steal a dog and return it for the 500 dollar reward. First, she made the rules for “how to steal a dog”, she would need a leash or a rope.
