Sex allows men to dominate. Once Jensen realized this his views on many things changed regarding sex and exploitation. Pornography today is normal and seen as a business.
In Getting Off Robert Jensen explains masculinity, what it's like to be a man, and the struggle men face everyday. Pornography is seen as a paradox in the mirror. "Mirrors can be dangerous, and pornography is a mirror. Pornography as a mirror shows us how some men see women"(14). "Pornography as a mirror can take us beyond sex into a more disturbing territory, which leads back to masculinity" (17). Women are suffering from dealing with men who are looking to fulfill their sexual desires. Women must find a way to cope with the reality of being apart of the pornography business. The passage on page 108 explains disturbing acts that are being encountered by men against women. Men believe it is okay to control and abuse women to get what they want. Men feel if they push a little harder women would give in. Some men do not know how to take no for an answer so, they go the extra mile to encourage women to drink more or give them drugs to get them in the mood for sex. This type of behavior is unacceptable and not normal.
