Martin was a normal boy up until the age of twelve. At the age of twelve Martin was misdiagnosed as being in a PVS state, when in fact he was locked-in. For this reason, no one realized that he was aware of the things taking place around him. If my life were in the hands of my family I would not want to put them in a situation where they would have to try to make a decision that they think is best for me. If anything, I would have my wishes written down so that I get what I want without putting the responsibility of my health on my family. In the end, whether or not you have a plan of action for yourself, both PVS and locked-in syndrome are devastating.
