It was an ordinary night of sleep until, something occurred that shook up his world. A ghost of Christmas past came in his room when he was sleeping and took him back to the past. After the ghost of Christmas past left, then a little while later, the ghost of Christmas present came and showed Scrooge things that happened that he didn't know about.Tiny Tim’s dad, Bob Cratchit, did not have that much and Tiny Tim had a problem that caused him to need surgery that they could not afford. The ghost of Christmas future came after that and showed Scrooge all the things that was going to happen, if he didn't change his way. There would be no one at his funeral …show more content…
He started by sending turkey with trimmings to the Cratchit family. He paid for Tiny Tim's health troubles and started paying Bob, more generously, at work. He has had a change of heart and wants to spend time with his friends and family, on special holidays, and desires to be nearer and closer with them. Scrooge has realized things that he should be grateful for that other people don't have and instead of doing selfishly, with his time and resources, he decides to help people with his means and uses it for relieving want and suffering, wherever and whenever, he can. For paragraph two, Act one ,scene three, Marley says, “Without their visits, you cannot hope to shun the path I tread”. I put this quote from Marley because, Scrooge's actions will affect him and because of them the Christmas ghost are visiting him to lead him in the right path. In paragraph three, Scrooge says, this could very well be a parallel of my own life. This is leading up to, Act two, Scene four, where Scrooge said,”I will live in the Past, in the Present, and in the Future!” This supports paragraph three by, saying how Scrooge was realizing how he was going to change and make a

Scrooge emphasizes, "What a fine day fellow... An Intelligent boy, a remarkable boy." This is a critical part of this novel because this shows Scrooge overcame his dislike of Christmas and his entire disliking of people. Instead of rudely gesturing to people, he is now starting to act nicer, and more mature. Scrooge exclaims, " Come back to the butcher and I'll give you a shilling. Come back in two minutes and ill give you a crown!" this show Scrooge truly overcomes the was he acts. Scrooge was all about the money- never wanted to share. Ever since the ghost's from Christmas past, present, and Christmas yet to come, Scrooge was offering his wealth off to other people who need the…

The spirit firstly takes him into the city beside a ‘knot of businessmen’ who is discussing the death of a fellow businessman with little emotion. The second visit is at a pawn shop where a charwoman, laundress and undertaker are all trading in items that Scrooge recognizes as his own without showing concern for what they were doing. He is next taken to see a corpse where he refuses to uncover the veil of the body but demands to see if the death of the man is cared about by anyone, with which he sees a family who are happy with the death. The fifth visit is at the Cratchit’s house where the family tenderly mourn the death of Tiny Tim but the final and foremost visit passes his empty counting house into a dreary graveyard where he sees his own grave. At this point, Scrooge breaks down in front of the Spirit, begging and pleading; ‘I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.’ His cries of forgiveness, full of remorse, end along with the Stave when the graveyard transformed back into his…

This is evidenced as Marley died on Christmas day Scrooge was the only mourner however Scrooge did not seem affected by the death as instead of paying his respect Scrooge used it as an opportunity to make business "even Scrooge was not so dreadfully cut up by the sad event, but that he was an excellent man of business on the very day of the funeral, and solemnized it with an undoubted bargain." Scrooge's tight-fisted nature is demonstrated for the first time in this quote. Scrooge's choice of bargaining at a funeral where it's supposed to be meaningful and evocative; justifies Scrooges apathetic attitude towards the death of his "sole friend" . This foreshadows Scrooge's death as when the ghost of Christmas yet to come displays the vision of Scrooge's death there was only a atmosphere of happiness and a apathetic attitude just like Scrooge at Marley's funeral. At the beginning of the vision Scrooge is acquainted by businessmen as they were discussing about his death, as stated before they gave an uninterested reaction. One of the Business men asked "What has he done with his money?", the fact that they are more concerned about the money rather than Scrooge's death shows their callous attitude again referring back to Scrooge's behavior towards Marley's…

Set in the 1840s on Christmas Eve, A Christmas Carol chronicles the personal transformation of the protagonist, Ebenezer Scrooge, the proprietor of a London counting house. A wealthy, elderly man, Scrooge is considered miserly and misanthropic: he has no wife or children; he throws out two men collecting for charity; he bullies and underpays his loyal clerk, Bob Cratchit; and he dismisses the Christmas dinner invitation of his kind nephew, Fred. Moreover, Scrooge is a strong supporter of the Poor Law of 1834, which allowed the poor to be interned in workhouses. As he prepares for bed on Christmas Eve in his solitary, dark chambers, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former partner, Jacob Marley. In life Marley was very similar in attitude and temperament to Scrooge: remote, cruel, and parsimonious. In death he has learned the value of compassion and warns Scrooge to reform his ways before it is too late. Marley announces that Scrooge will be visited by three more specters: the Spirits of…

The ghost of Christmas past brought Scrooge to his old school and to a Christmas party. On page 43, it shows that “Scrooge recognized every gate, and post, and tree.” He also recognized the people that they were passing and “he rejoiced beyond all bounds to see them… his cold eye glistened, and his heart leapt up as they walked past.” this shows that the significance of The ghost of Christmas past was to bring happiness and remind Scrooge that he has it in him to be happy and that there was a time before he became a cold bitter and loveless man.…
